Freeze Watch for NW OK for Sat Eve/Sun AM

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

Here it is....the first official Freeze Watch of the season, I think. (Doesn't it seem a tad early for this?)

The NWS has issued a Freeze Watch for several counties in northwestern OK, including Harper and Roger Mills counties, for Saturday evening going into Sunday morning.

To read the text or to see the list of affected counties, click on the link and go to the bottom of the page to the county map. Click on any blue county to read the Freeze Watch text.

If you're a gardener in this part of the state, cover up any tender vegetation you want to protect.

For the rest of us, the first Freeze Warning likely is not too far away.

And, y'all remember, if all other conditions are right, you can have a frost and damage to vegetation at 38 degrees. (To get this kind of frost damage at 38, you need a clear night with no wind in most cases, and it happens more often in low-lying areas, commonly called 'frost pockets').
