White scratch like marks on hibiscus leaves

Another problem I'm having on leaves of two hibiscus plants is whitish/light yellow scratch like speckles on all the leaves. I'm not seeing insects in undersides of leaves. Does anyone know what us causing this? Thanks

You have something that is punching a hole in the leaves and is sucking the sap out that flies away before you go out to check or as you approach. A deterrent, such as
surround (a Kaolin clay product) might be something to try.

Thanks for the info kimmsr! You are always so helpful! I am having white fly problems around my yard . I wasn't sure if whiteflies were the problem with the leaves in the photo. They are hibiscus leaves but I never see the white flies around the hibiscus plants. I have released lacewings twice and lady bugs but it hasn't done anything. I've put out the yellow traps and sprayed several times with Neem. Nothing seems to be working.

I pulled all the celery from the raised bed the entire crop is hollow and appears that the tread marks could be dehydration blisters or tooooo much sun I would still like to know but that would be my guess . I cut it all up and removed the leaves it tightly filled a 5 gallon plastic pail now I need to figure out what to do with it . I think its edible but it lost alot of moisture is extremely tall and very thin . any suggestions ? My wife says it taste like celery she ate two peices one tasted pretty bitter and the other was good , it still has some moisture left in it .

Almost surely not an infection and likely just water marks. Especially if it wipes off as easily as you say and it doesn't feel slimy or unnatural between your fingertips. Wipe all the leaves off and see if anything returns. I wouldn't worry though.

Sun scald. You have to gradually introduce these to the outside... otherwise they act up like that. Once it adjusts to the new conditions, the leaves should resprout, but just be prepared for yellowing and dropping leaves for a bit longer. Same will happen when you bring it back inside for winter.

Hibiscus love heat, so don't worry too much about that. Check and be sure excess water is able to drain away when you water you plant. Having water stay in the bottom of the pot all the time will kill the roots of your plant. If the pot sits on a saucer to catch excess water, you might want to find something to elevate the pot a little bit above the saucer. I once used some old coasters I was tired of for that purpose.

Doesn't look like insect damage to me. Perhaps a virus like hibiscus green spot?
