Leaf drop on drawf mountain laurel

nightingale612

We have 6 new dwarf mountain laurel Little Linda. We planted all in late April. 5 are thriving, beautiful blooms. The 6th is blooming but has just started to drop its leaves- they turned brown and fell off. Lower parts of the branches are all bare. What caused this, and how do I fix it? Will the branches refoliate, or will they remain bare?

Thanks for any advice - I couldn't find anything by web search. I may have to take a specimen to my cooperative extension.
