I am doing the same thing you are and growing tomtoes and peppers. If the tomatoes are some what yellow thats a sign of to much water same with the peppers. If they are at least 1" high I think it is time to remove your lid and get some light on them. Some people may wait for the second leaf. But everyones conditions are different. I am using a florescent light on top of mine as close as I can get it about 8" closer is better. Its one of those like in a factory, round with a magnifing glass in it. I have got it clamped to an art table and it is on 2hrs off 1 24/7(timer) . If it is cold where you are you can leave the heating pad. My peppers are about 2" and have been un-covered for a least 2weeks. Same for the tomatoes. Hope this helps

Listen to me, Tisha, just stand by her the best you can---you do know only part of the story---and even if it is in response to outside factors, the pain to HER is still real. We know she did have Lyme's Disease from a tick bite she got in Ct. while delivering a horse----down here in the South----it had barely ever been heard of at that time---the aches and hurting joints all played their part in her suffering, though. Margie, after years of missing Mom so much, (They were celestial twins in the universe. They loved and fought each other more than anyone else on earth..) she began to rely more and more on painkillers---her husband would call and I would go over and try to help, but finally gave up----she was too much out of control and would go into screaming frenzies---we were never very close and that made it easier for me to just stay away from her. Margie's husband called early one morning to say she had died sometime in the early morning hours in a bathtub, with a syringe with partially dissolved painkiller medication in it. We went to St. Mary's Hosp. in Richmond to see her. I walked in the room with my family and and it was the FIRST time I'd seen peace on her face since our Mom died in 1984. Margie died July 27, 1997. I was relieved to see peace, not pain. She had a wisp of a smile on her face----the same sweet smile she had when she was a little girl.... I'm telling you this because you will always be plagued with questions. You will NEVER know the whole truth. It's her journey, Tisha and you can only help so much. Someday, you might not be able to help at all. What you CAN do is try your best to support her, even if it's a 'Thinking of You Card' in the mail--it's something positive for her to connect with....being remembered. Just let her know you still care about her. ---And you can pray for relief and support for her, and guidance and patience for you. One thing that has gotten me through some rough times is the uncanny way 'Lucky Pennies' would always show up when I needed a boost. I would be doing some dirty job, tired and worried----and suddenly, there would be a Lucky Penny, right in front of me, waiting. I always heard the words, 'I Am with you' in my heart, with each penny I picked up out of the dirt and grime. It helped immensely. It never hurts to say a little prayer. The frogs may eat each other as well. If you can find crickets it is fun to feed them. Big bullfrogs can eat smaller birds and sometimes will drown bigger birds they grab but are too big to swallow. Lately all my frogs, of six years, left or were eaten by somthing and I have one lone young bullfrog. He was about 1 inch long and has grown to about 4 inches fat on worms. I call him 'The King' as he is, for now, King of the pond. He is probably offspring from the bigger frogs and no doubt would have been eaten by them if they were still around. It is a frog eat frog world:-) To attract earthworms I keep a pile of moist leaves and they congregate under them and eat the leaves. As long as the area is moist and there is plant material the earthworms stay. I also find them under potted plants that are outdoors on the edge of the pond (on the soil surface). Frogs will eat anything that moves they can fit, or partially fit, into their mouth.

Hi folks...I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. We got back last Friday, and there was a TON of work waiting for me, garden and desk work. I have been very busy. No excuse. We were spared. The firemen were great. They even used this place as a 'base' of sorts one of the nights. What great men. It was ashy here, but I cannot complain. The deer have not been touching the roses (Liquid Fence, yay!) and we all returned to the best fall flush I have ever had. Thanks to all of you who have been so wonderful through all of this.
