Jewel-like insect eggs

I live in the Mojave Desert of southern California. I have wild gourd vines that grow in my backyard. Underneath the leaves I often find clusters of small oval shaped topaz colored eggs. They are very shiny and smooth and look very much like little brown opals. I am hoping they are some kind of moth or butterfly egg. Can anyone help me out?
