what is going wrong with my tomatoe plants?

I have never had a problem before starting my own tomatoe plants but some of them aren't looking very good. Here is a pic of a leaf, does anyone know what this could be? I haven't seen any bugs on them. Click on pic a couple times to enlarge.

are they outdoors already ....???? any chance there was a cold night .... if indoors .. is sun scald a possibility???

did you start them indoors?

were they properly hardened off before being put out ...

the picture is not close enough to see if there are insects ... for me anyway ...

The plants were started indoors and have been hardening off outside. They looked great till a few days ago.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me! I ended up getting everything stabilized and they are mostly back to normal. I had a few things which all contributed to the edema issue and then a period of over watering after transplant. As I said, the big closet they are in gets pretty warm and humid due to the door being shut to keep the cats out. I had a fan on them and with the furnace running, it was keeping the room cooler and keeping the humidity down. After transplant, I did a heavy watering. For the next 5 days, I didn't run the fan and it has been warming here, so the furnace hasn't been circulating the air to keep the room cool and to remove the humidity. I think this caused the edema and the lack of water evaporation which caused the wilted leaves from the wet potting soil. After I figured this all out, they all stabilized and are looking much better. With the nicer weather, time for them to start transitioning outside. Still 4 weeks to go. Next year, I will be waiting 4 more weeks to start the seeds. They are getting too big, but I had spring fever. :)

All of those things would prefer their own pot because of the different needs they have. The tomato looks like it might recover and grow if given it's very own, larger (perhaps much larger depending on variety) container. Soon. It also looks like maybe it has had too much water recently. Cheers!

The answer is clear to me. The pots are too small, I dont think its possible to supply food and water to a plant thats that size, in the heat that there enduring on concrete thats being reflected around them constantly. If you have to grow there next time use bigger containers, get them off the concrete, with a milk crate block or anything. A good straw mulch at least 4-6" thick. Im not looking for a fight with other growers, its just I dont think its possible to raise indeterminate tomatos in less then 18 gal pots, especially in a situation like you have there on concrete, I think there cooking. If they did produce the fruit would be poor quality. It takes a lot of work to raise tomatos as you know, use a bigger container, you and the tomatos will be happier. Plant em if you got em. Sam

It appears to be a newly emerged leaf; the veins are greener than the surrounding tissue. This is not too unusual but you have some experience with the crop and therefore it is significant. I think that it is a nutrition symptom. If you did not fertilize, try some starter type fertilizer -preferably water soluble- which can be applied over the top. Go very lightly. Half dose is recommended. If you did apply fertilizer then it might be a problem of uptake. Too little water; slow release etc.

It looks like a fungal disease of some sort. Are those black spots on the leaves? Is that a lower leaf? If so, I think that it would be best to handpick or prune off the infected leaves. Now that you are moving them outside they should get plenty of airflow - just make sure that you plant them far enough apart and if you water, try to keep the leaves dry. An organic fungicide like cooper or sulfur can be used if it continues.

Those "black spots" don't look black to me. Could be a case of edema instead of a fungal disease.

Need a better picture to be able to say what sort of a problem.
