I will post pics in a second (darn camera battery died, it is charging) but I am pretty sure it is NOT the pine sphinx. After doing some googling, I *think* they are the larvae of a sawfly??? They look like the pictures in the link below. Not the bright green drawings, but the actual photos. I feel a little better now, because it makes me think it is not too late for these trees. So you think watering daily is unnecessary? I actually enjoy doing it, LOL. Of course in the summer and spring when it is rainy, I don't bother. But in this dry weather, I thought it might help them grow. I know they are slow growers, I am anxious for some shade from them! :) Thanks for your help! You know, it's really easy to experience brain meltdown when you're making a million decisions. In fact it is physiological, our brains use up glucose each time we make a decision and it doesn't get replenished until we sleep. No more glucose = no more decision making capability. So sometimes other people can see the solution that our brains just don't have the physical ability to realize. I don't see any problem with nicely suggesting a potential solution that a poster might have overlooked. Even if it wasn't asked for. "Tomorrow" in the original post is in fact, today. So I'm guessing Heather is busy with her install. She may or may not have seen these ideas, and she may or may not be considering them if she did see them. It's not too late to help someone else in a similar situation though who might find this thread through a search engine.

I would make sample boards of colors you like that you can move around in your space and your light. Trade winds might look really blue in your space. I see your cabinetry as very warm like your current paint, while the gray furniture as cool. For that reason, I like the Accessible beige suggestion. Consider going neutral with more color in smaller space like powder room?

If it's a foxtail I doubt anything is going to easily get it out short of a vet's help. You mention the cat comes 'in' to eat. If he is coming indoors, then that is the time to close all doors, catch him, place him in a crate and get him to a vet. If you're not able to catch him with a large towel or blanket, then arrange to have someone come by to help. If you don't want to towel him another option is to get a live trap and start feedin him in it. Once he's used to going in the trap, you can then set the door latch so that it will activate and catch him. ..........but right now time isn't on your side. While at the vet, they could also neuter him (if he's intact) while he's there. When you said you have no means of transport, do you mean you don't have a carrier.....or don't have a vehicle? If you can catch him, ask the vet if one of their techs could come pick him up. Also, if you have any cat rescue groups in your area, ask them if they know of anyone that can help catch him. I wouldn't worry about the cat being scared of the trip to the vet. I also have a semi-feral that I've had to take to the vet. Turns out she's great while there and quickly goes back to her normal routine afterward. Actually, she became more affectionate after her first trip to the vet. Your cat going thru a scary trip to the vet will be much better than what he'll go thru if he's not able to eat. I would feed him only canned pate cat food for now.......and also while he's healing after the burr is removed.
