Aerobic waste system vs. plants

I have just moved to a home with an aerobic treatment system (similar to septic system). It adds calcium hypochlorite as the filal step in treatment. The water is then sprayed all over my yard via three sprinkler heads. My sod seems to have no problem with this water. Before I go spending my limited resources on trees and a butterfly garden...will my new plants be able to withstand this chemically-treated water? The guy who installed the system claimed that the waste water is potable (gross, I agree). In addition to these plants, I wanted to try a raised bed with a few veggies. Is this a bad idea? With our OK wind, there is no way to guarantee that some of this water does not reach my veggies and their roots. The yard measures (roughly) 120'x148' but the heads are so spread out that there is almost no shelter from this tainted water.

In summation, here are my questions:

1) can I grow healthy trees, shrubs and flowers?

2) can I grow vegetables assuming that they have soaked up some of this waste?

3) do any of you folks have experience with these systems?

Thank you in advance for your help.
