Y'all do have too much water. Too bad it can't be piped to points west of I-35, including to Jay in SW KS, and Jan in the panhandle, and all the rest of the folks in western OK.

I hope you don't encounter any nasty weather on your drive to and from Tulsa. It has been raining cats and dogs (and hail) in the D-FW metro area.

It is very dark here at our house but no rain seems imminent.

Carol, our roads just keep flooding over and over again. They will flood out then recede a bit, then repeat the process. Luckily, my garden is in the high part of the property!! It has rained non-stop today again!! I imagine the Spring River is going to be flooded due to all this rain. They just stated a little bit ago on the news that we had gotten almost 10 inches of rain today!! Is Grand Lake up to the road yet at the first light over beside Cheapo Depot?? If not, I'm sure it will be before long. ugh!!

But..........I am very thankful and blessed that we ONLY have an over abundance of rain :)

Melissa, We went to Tulsa today and it was raining when we left and raining when we returned. My husband said he is now suffering from hydrophobia. The worst part was from Afton toll gate to almost Big Cabin. Cars and truck were pulled over on the shoulder because the visability was so poor. South of there it was OK.

My husbands sister lives in an assisted living home in Colorado and she normally comes once a year for a visit. She likes to take the bus because she can go to the first relatives in Arkansas, then they take her to the next, then we pick her up. She was scheduled to leave Joplin today. Of course, I couldn't get any info from Joplin but finally did get a recording that said there was no service from there. So we took her to Tulsa and she is on her way home.

Craig county is getting it worse than we are and mesonet has recorded 9.63 inches since midnight. Our mesonet reading is 4.58 since midnight but we have been in the donut hole a few times with the heavy stuff not coming right across us. We are getting heavy rain right now but it looks much worse down in Cherokee and Adair county, so I think they will get a lot of rain tonight.

The Cheapo Depo area was OK when we passed, but we didn't go down the street by the park. You can probably fish the park from the McDonalds parking lot soon. LOL I checked the lake level this morning and again tonight and it has come up a little over a foot with 9 gates open. The flood control pool is only at 26.68 percent so that looks OK.

There is not much coverage of the tornados that touched down in Delaware county because all the reporters seem to be covering Joplin. I have seen several different reports of damage in Cleora, West Silome, Zena, and some more structure damage on 412. At first they were saying Flintridge, but I never heard that confirmed.

You guys be very careful because I think we have another night and day of this. There are flash flood warnings everywhere in NE Oklahoma and NW Arkansas. My plan is to be at home until it is over.

It's just crazy how it can go from not enough rain to too much rain almost overnight around here. Even here in Logan County, where we've been very very dry, a flood advisory is in effect now. We've had a lot of heavy rain tonight, and a little pea-sized hail, but I know we haven't received anywhere near the rain you have. I hope you all dry out soon!

Remember the old saying I trot out whenever we're starting to see a little drought relief: "It takes a flood to end a drought". I believe we're seeing the drought ending (though maybe not everywhere) ....and it surely is taking some flooding to do it, isn't it?

There's a reason those old sayings exist.

This May is reminding me of 2007 when we finally got tons of rain to put a halt to the drought that plagued much of the state in 2005-2006. What I remember most about that year is that we had at least a foot of rain in June at our house. Some of you (Melissa!) may have had that much today.

I finally heard from my friend that I had been concerned about. She lives on a small dirt road so I didn't want to try to get down there but I was unable to reach her by phone either last night or today. I left her an email msg and she responded when she had power restored at 3 this afternoon. She lives in the Zena area and her home wasn't touched but the tornado bounced across the countryside within a quarter mile of her house. I was afraid it was very close.

Carol we have too much rain here too. We got 3" in 24 hrs from Fri morn til Sat morn. Then today so far we've had 3.8. We live on a hill so we don't have much problem, except that the chicken shed is in an area that sometimes floods. We once lost 40 out of 100 3 week old chickens. A month ago it flooded and we moved 100 2 week old wet chicks onto the porch into a box to warm them up. Didn't lose any, luckily. They're two big to move now so we just pray the shed doesn't flood again.

But minor problems compared to the devastation and loss of human life in so many places. We're praying for those families who have suffered loss. Glad to hear you're ok. I wondered if you were in the path of anything damaging.

Thanks Dorothy. We are fine except for too much water. I'm not sure what this will do for my garden since I hear we have more rain due tomorrow. My chicken pen looks more like a duck pen with a long swimming pond.

My DH said that he wanted to go somewhere tomorrow just to get out of the rain. He said, just tell me where we can go and we will take a drive. I told him that I thought we would have to go north to get out of it. Then I came to my computer and saw what Dawn had posted and had to tell him that Kansas was out as well. He has been working on a project in the safe room/shelter, so I told him we both should probably just work in there all day since it might be the only safe place. LOL Will it never end?

Glad to hear you're well. I was wondering if any of the tornadoes got close to your place.

Y'all have had so much rain there. How much do you think you've had at your house this year?

Our mesonet station shows 10.5" for our county for 2011, but at our house we've had right at 12.5". It isn't a lot, but most of it has fallen in the last 5 or 6 weeks, so we feel "rich" in terms of water right now. A lot of you in NE OK probably have had more rain in one week or even one day than we've had for the entire year.

Carol, I'm only going to leave the house this morning to buy some new supplies for the tornado shelter and then I'm coming right back home. Then I'll probably make cookies or cinnamon rolls or something so I can feed our firefighters snacks with coffee if they have a busy afternoon/evening.

I try to remember to put fresh bottled water, pre-packaged snacks and fresh flashlight and radio batteries in in the shelter every spring, and I haven't put new supplies in it yet this year. After that, we'll be home watching the weather closely. I do not like the way all the 'right' storm ingredients are coming together.

I'm wondering when it will end too because tomorrow looks like another potentially severe weather day. My poor garden must be feeling neglected. I've only worked in it a couple of hours this week, driven indoors by a heat index of 100 one day and by hordes of mosquitoes another day. All I've done is a little weeding and a lot of harvesting. I do enjoy the harvesting part. I bet weeds are popping up in the mulch, and I like to pull them before they can get established, but likely won't get around to it today.
