Saw my first seed rack today....

Walked into one of the big box stores today and there it was! Talk about EXCITMENT! Yippee!

So what will you be hitting the racks for? If any of you are interested I have more mixed zinnias, french flame marigolds and tall orange cosmos than I will ever be able to plant. Just give me a shout. I'll be more than happy to send them. You all will never know how much you have helped me through my annual gardening withdraw/addiction.

I don't "need" any seeds thanks to you and William. You made me go to Lowe's and ask for a deal on pallets of plants and William made me order seeds from Seeds and More. I don't know who is responsible for my Park's order. I'll probably find something I need between now and spring. Signet marigolds are tempting. I like the smell of their foliage.

I have the rest of my orders ready to go on payday--LOL. after this year, I should never have another seed catalog.
The only thing I couldnt find, and wanted to try, in the three I ordered from, is Jicima, Shumways handles it, and shipping is too high for one item.

I have two Canary Birds (this is my favorite of all), one from pickering and one from Hortico. Pickering doesn't ofer it anymore, but Hortico ships really good ones. I already bought CBs for many of my friends from them. I like this rose so much and feel it is so bad it is not availavle in US. I am expecting one more next week. If you are interested I can donate it to you for planting at your work. Just let me know. My Primula is from Pickering, it doesn't have scented leaves blooms are less fragrant and bloom time is much shorter then with CB. My Hugonis is own root and I don't quite remember where I got it probably High Contry Roses. I love this one, but my problem is that blooms fully open only during the day when I am at work. In the morning and evening they are partially closed. So I can fully enjoy them only on weekends. Cantabrigiensis is from Pickering and it is too yong to judge, just one year old.

Congrats, Sherrie! I love those red admirals, too! They overwinter here - many a winter, I've hosted the same adult RA on my property, with them coming out on sunny days. I've also raised quite a few of them on my false nettles, which I think is a pretty plant, for a "weed" that is! :) Sherry

I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner and rather than toss out the water that my kids didn't finish, I brought it outside to water my zinnias. And it was then that I noticed that two of the leaves, had that famous lacy pattern. I said outloud, I wonder what's been eating you. And I looked around and sure enough, two Japanese Beetles were munching away. I went into the garage and pulled out my neem oil, mixed up a batch and set off spraying. Dang, I hate these bugs. This will be my first year using neem, so I hope it works well. Oh, both buggers are no longer of this world!!!

Woo hoo Deb! I love them. I had tons in Williston, almost year round. They would roost in the trees at night. But here, I see only a few which really surprised me. I did see one checking out the passion vine yesterday, so that's a good sign.

I don't "need" seeds either but there's a few that I want anyway. lol
I grew a lot of mixed zinnias last year and didn't save any seeds. I'll have more volunteers than I want though. I'd still like to buy some single colors to mass.
Pam - Are your zinnias, marigolds and cosmos all seeds that you saved from summer or did you go crazy buying them on Sunday?
I bought a whole stack of seed packets when Dollar General had theirs on clearance at the end of summer. I can't remember how much they were - maybe less than a dime apiece. I couldn't pass it up.
Helen - I'm looking forward to photos this summer from yours and Pams' pallets of plants.
Ceresone - Postage makes a difference. Stokes is high too for a small order. I wanted some melon seeds that they had but they were 6.50 a packet and minimum postage was six something too so I decided I could go without them.

lowe's, home depot and freds have displays out now. nothing so far at wally world.

I checked out Hummert's seeds earlier this week and bought Oregon Sugar Pod peas and Turnips (can't remember the name). I also bought Snowbird peas at Lowe's. They're both the edible pod type. I fix Chicken Fried Rice occasionally and I'm hoping they'll be good in that. My hubby complains if I put broccoli in it.
I went to Wal-Mart Monday but forgot to check for seeds there and haven't been to Home Depot since before Christmas. There used to be a Fred's in Republic, MO but it either closed or moved.
