Saw my first zebra longwing today

I was seeing no butterflies for awhile, but now I have quite a list. The zebra longwing was sipping on the milkweed flowers. Not much else blooming right now with this horrible heat, but I do have marigolds and vincas coming along nicely, so soon.

So far, I've seen:

Giant swallowtail

Black swallowtail

Monarch

Queen (my prize)

A couple of skippers, but couldn't identify them

Zebra Longwing

The first year I was here, I saw NO butterflies except the monarch that laid eggs on my one milkweed plant. The second year, I saw the sulfur, but it flitted by quickly. Last year, I saw the zebra longwing and giant swallowtail for the first time. This year has been a wonderful surprise, although they aren't sticking around long due to lack of flowers. By fall, I'll have TONS of flowers, so I hope some come back. Next spring & summer should be good, or at least I hope so, since I'll be leaving here in mid-July.
