Tomatoes: Pruning Suckers and Pinching

I came across this topic on another forum and learned this is what some people do to keep their indeterminates more manageable. Others leave them alone. I am considering doing this and wonder what the pros and cons are. I also want to know if it might be a good idea to root a couple of the suckers for continued production of tomatoes into fall season. They root easily. At that point I could remove the larger vines and plant the newly rooted plants. This seems like a good idea for my smaller growing area - both the pruning and the planting of rooted suckers. What are your opinions?

Also do you pinch out your tomatoes when you first plant them and they begin to grow? Or, would I be pinching out potential tomatoes?
