Garden web error--unresponsive script--is it just me?

Hi Guys--everytime I click on a thread or a forum, basically every time I want to change the screen on gardenweb today, I get an error message about this unresponsive script:

And I have to stop the script to go on. It's happening with both Internet Explorer and Firefox, and only on gardenweb. Is this happening to you guys, too? I already sent a message to the website, I'm just trying to figure out if this is something unique to me or if the whole site is messed up. Thanks everyone.

Absolutely not. It happens all the time with me.

Using: Mozilla firefox

I find that x-ing out of the dialogue box instead of responding to "stop script" or "continue script" to be more effective.

Thanks for bringing it up. Pulling hairs with it.

I use Google Chrome and haven't had any problems except for the last few days I have had a Google Ad for Chevy in the middle of the postings. Kind of weird, but I guess they have to pay the bills. I wish they would move it to the side of the page.

Well, it's not the not having a wants or trade list, it's the whole thing together, not providing a GW ID in the initial email, not wanting to give it once I requested it, then telling me they don't have a list up because they don't have the time to do it. I understand it takes some time to do. And one without the others, along with her wanting large amounts of seeds, large varieties, then getting rude, ugly and very angry when I requested her ID, all of it together was what raised flags. She seemed insulted that I would want to know her GW ID. Even outright told me that she wasn't scamming for seeds and had been around GW for about five years, but that she's not well known. After five years,I'd think that at least few people could give recommendations, even if they had no Rate and Review, etc. But I still need an ID to ask some of the people I know that are very active about them. And when I say large amounts and varieties I'm talking she wanted 14 different things and was dissatisfied with the amounts that I had. I think that generally my amounts are good, sometimes even generous. It was everything together that raised flags.

That's what I like about you Jane, you just put yourself right out there... :-) It doesn't seem like 2 years since you first started posting. I remember how impressed I was with how you just took the bull by the horn and had those trees out and the new shrubs selected and planted in a flash. I wonder if we could get an update? If I remember right, you bought a whole lot of new plants and I wonder how they all worked out. You have me thinking of how long I've been coming to GW forums and it's actually been about 12 years. Long time. You're right, I don't stop and think about how much of my gardening is effected by everyone I meet here on the forums, but I am sure it is a lot. I have two favorite shrubs, Viburnum maresii in the garden, that I wouldn't have selected if someone on the shrub forums hadn't suggested they would work in my shady border and if I hadn't seen a photo that ego45 posted of this huge, gorgeous Viburnum maresii the next week. And I was just thinking of idabean the other day when I was updating my plant inventory, since I have at least 5 of my favorite plants that she shared from her garden at the first swap I ever went to. Lots of other plants in my garden with NE forum names on them too. And Trudi in the Winter Sowing forum added a completely new and exciting element with her winter sowing method that I had never heard of or tried. Claire's bird photos have brightened up the winter. Lot's of nurseries I wouldn't have known about if Sedum37 had not started that thread on Favorite Garden Centers and Nurseries in 2006. I could go on and on. I'm sure we don't stop and appreciate what we receive from each other often enough, so you had a good idea with your post. :-) Really funny story about the shy GW member living in the same town as a friend of yours. I'm sure she was very happy she posted to GW and look how it brightened your day. Hope you will post more, Jane, I enjoy your posts. :-) pm2

I never get the emails that inform me someone has commented on a post. Makes it tough to follow up sometimes in questions or keep track of topics that I'm interested in. Figures that the message board I'm the most interested in following up on is the most unorganized whe it comes to it's functionality.

Carol, I am on Chrome and see the annoying ad by google in the middle of my threads, too. Trying not to be too put out by it, but it irks me.

Mia, I think it is a conspiracy. My husband kind of tricked me to go look at the 2012 Equinox because he thought I might like to have a newer one. The salesman quickly grabbed the keys and brought one up to the front for me to drive. I didn't drive it but I did get in and look.

When we got the one I have now, I had six grandchildren here for a few days, and they ran an TV ad for zero percent financing in Joplin. He wanted me to go right then and find one. I had already driven one and thought they were OK, but we had just bought a new truck, so I wasn't looking for a car. He said what do you want on the car. Since we live in an area with quite a few hills, I didn't want to give up my four-wheel drive. My mother was still living at the time and I was having to make a lot of 300 mile trips so I said I wanted cruise control.

He called from the dealer and told me they had two left with four wheel drive and cruise control. He told me the two colors they had, and I picked one. You can see how really excited I get over a new car. Needless to say, he has liked it a lot better than I have, but it's OK. LOL

Now GardenWeb has this big ad, that every time I open a thread that says Chevy Equinox Sale 2012. I'm glad to know that it is on your computer too and that I'm not being targeted. LOL

After hearing the forecast for this week, I probably should be shopping for an ark.

Same here for random GW errors. I get them constantly, along with my antivirus software alerting me to problems. It's always putting something in a vault.

I went months without being able to log on here. Now, it just logs me off every couple days but has been letting me back in.

I've had trouble of some sort with GW for all of the years I've been here. And that's a lot of years. You'd think they'd have had time to figure it all out and fix it at some point over the last nine years. LOL

I'm having trouble and I am using Firefox. I do not normally have any trouble with Firefox and GW, so I think it is a new glitch.

I just hit the "stop script" button too.

Maybe it is a conspiracy to get us Firefox users to stop blocking ads :)

GW's explanation (of course it is the fault of naughty garden gnomes) and some workarounds can be find at the link.

I use Google Chrome and haven't had any problems.

A temporary "fix" for now is to go to Internet Options, Content, and disable Java Script. Works!

It's the stupid ads. They can't do anything about it without removing the ad, I betcha. They're certainly not going to do that after getting paid. lol
