OK, you asked for it. Not a hosta leaf but somewhat similar: a very pretty, very yellow, perfectly heart-shaped redbud leaf.

Here's some color for ya! This poppy started blooming last week. It's the only one of 7000 seeds that I scattered in late May to bloom. Hopefully the other 6,999 will follow the leader next spring.

I love my heucheras and heucherellas for season long color, but I especially love them in the cooler fall and spring weather. This one is called 'Zipper'.

Here's another called 'Cherry Cola' with potted hostas in the background.

I have two long rows of fall asters that are just opening and the purple color is so vibrantly bright . These all started with a small plant one of my neighbours gave me a few years ago. They hardly ever get watered, soil is terrible and are in the west hot sun in the summer but still do well and multiply to larger clumps . I replant somewhere else and try to give some away too but soon may have to discard then :(

Hostinista, I should have known better than to tempt you. My Redbuds haven't lost any leaves yet. I always thought of Poppies as being a warmer zoned plant; live and learn.

PS, I count 15 more seeds in the flower that bloomed; that would be 7014 for next year.

My asters never spread very much, almosthooked. Taller clumps, and in shade...which may be the problem. I bought a few more yesterday ($1 apiece, Nice and healthy but blossoms had turned brown so they were on the 'take it or it gets thrown out' rack) , pinched the spent blooms off, should be nice next year.

First year for my Elephant Ears. It was fun watching it grow. Planted with Dragon Wing Begonia. Still going strong.

First hosta to change color is one of my NOIDs. I am thinking it may be Thunderbolt.

Ornamental grasses

Helenium 'Flammenspiel' and Heptacodium (Seven Sons Shrub)

Sedum 'Autumn Joy', although common as grass, is such a wonderful plant. It demands absolutely nothing in my garden, but looks good in all four seasons. The seed heads are substantial enough in winter to withstand drifts of snow.

Native black eyed susans, gentler and more informal than their designer offspring, volunteer around my garden and delight me for quite a long fall bloom time. Many would consider them weeds; I love them!

And corydalis lutea has been blooming intermittently since early spring. It is another volunteer which pops up wherever and withstands whatever abuse I dole out! It looks fragile but is tough as nails and is most welcome wherever it chooses in my garden.

Jon I wish you lived closer and I could give you a large clump to get you started . These are about 2 1/2 ft tall and each clump about 2 to 3 ft wide but pull out lots so they don't cover my Silver Mount plants that also do well but in the sun

We do have fall colors here in the mountains,but it is just too early. I don't consider dying back hostas as fall colors. They are just plain ugly this time of year. Phil

Seems to be the same as yours (???). They don't spread and this clump keeps moving toward the street to get more sun.

The new ones I bought are here (temporarily anyway). Impossible to see. The 'Sugar' pumpkins are third generation. When they go rotten\, I throw them on a pile of leaves and Voila, pumpkin patch the next year. The vines get fungus and the pumpkins never get very big. Can't be bothered spraying them.

Even the evergreens are showing color. Another day in the 70s here. In October!!!

ooooooh, Hostanista, I've got polka dots, too! :) My first year growing these.

Crocosmia is declining in the back, so I've got a neighboring pot draping over them, and everything else here is looking great!

This is a newly-planted area, looking forward to next year!

This heuchera is a big one, doing great!
