I live in zone 5. I was thinking of yanking my eggplant plants. Those poor things haven't grown a bit since I put them in the ground. Anyway, I just planted peas and beets. I still need to plant more beans. It's just too wet and the seeds rot. So here's the list of what can still be planted: Arugula Asian greens (kamatsuna, pok choi, etc) Bush beans Beets Broccoli (from seedlings, maybe from seed if started now) Carrots Cauliflower (from seedlings) Cilantro Cucumbers Greens (kale, mustard, spinach, Swiss chard, etc) Kohlrabi Lettuce Peas Radishes Summer squashes Turnips Winter squash (acorn types, others from seedlings)

I was planning on asking something like this myself tonight. I am in zone9. My cukes and tomatoes are done. I pulled up my cucumbers yesterday and one row of my maters today. I still have 2 rows of tomatoes to pull up, maybe tomorrow if I can get through the heat. This is my first big veggie garden, so I'm on a trial & error run myself. I went ahead and planted a row of peas which I think will do OK, I also put down a row of okra, which my dad planted his a few weeks ago and they are doing great, so I think these will too. I still have several rows to fill if I can and produce a nice fall crop in time before time to plant my winter crop. I think tomorrow I will get down some corn and a heirloom variety of pole bean I bought on a whim. Like I said, a lot will be trial & error till I see what does good at what point. I'll save my carrots, greens, turnips and such for winter crop. I am interested to see what else might work this time of year!! Thanks for the thread!

For fall, I go with radishes, kholrabi, carrots, and peas. However, outside of the radishes, which only take a few weeks, you may want to get rolling on the beds right now. For what it's worth, I am in zone 4/5, kind of right on the border, so I err on the low side at 4. I plan to sow my sugar snap peas and kholrabi in mid to late August, and radishes will be successively planted starting in late August up until it gets too cold, which can sometimes be as late as November. I dunno what "end of summer" constitutes for you, but technically speaking, that'd be the fall equinox in September, which is pretty late. Joe

yep, sweet potatoes! Yardlong beans like the heat Southern peas/beans like cow peas, crowder peas, black eye peas. Tropical stuff this time of year New Zealand Spinach seems to like the heat Basil Most of my melons, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, gourds etc have all been in for a while now so I'm not sure if I would plant more of those now as they usually don't do so well for me during the rainy season. But you could always try some summer squash in a location that will get some light midday-afternoon shade and still probably get a harvest before it gets way too hot since summer squash and zucchini are quick crops.
