I don't believe this forum does accept uploads. I upload to a free account at ImageCave (there are many others) and then link from there. Like this:

This was sent to me some time ago and I still use it:

The first thing to do is go to photobucket.com, and open a free account. Then follow their instructions for storing copies of your pics on their server. Once your pics are up there, it's a simple matter to post links to them in your posts on the forum.

To insert a pic. into a post:1) 'copy' the HTML Tag under the PhotoBucket pic. and

2. 'paste' it after the text in your post.
   When you 'Preview' your photo. will be there.

davidinct is correct, you can't upload photos directly to this forum. You have three options:

1. upload to a gallery and link to that.

2. set up a free account at a photo hosting site such as photobucket, picasaweb, ImageCave, etc., and link to that. Use the HTML Tag as northerner_on says.

3. go to tinypic.com and upload photos to that site (you don't need an account). This is the method I use.

Choose the HTML tag, not the IMG.

Whichever method you use, you just post the HTML tag in your message. You can post as many as you want, or think the readers can stand.

.....and that is the option I chose also. I was sidetracked over at TinyPic.com for about two hours while I played. So many ways to upload photos now, and for FREE.....
I took shots today that I hope will look good enough to upload. I don't understand all that I know, but I am not confused anymore. :)

Thanks everyone for your help. The picture included here is a passionflower which I planted in a huge tub with a bamboo teepee to climb. I put it in the grotto at my church. I edited it with Virtual Painter 5.

That Virtual Painter program looks like a lot of fun! Nice painting/photo.

Right after I posted those directions, I went over to the interesting lighting photo thread and saw you had posted there earlier; using TinyPic. That amused me.

You said "I don't understand all that I know, but I am not confused anymore. :)" I figure you don't have to understand everything to use it.

The one thing that trips people up is using the HTML tag. You can post it directly if it comes from a photo-hosting site, but you can't just insert an HTML tag alone and expect a link to appear.

Claire, Virtual Painter 5 IS a lot of fun. I think with TinyPic.com there is a similar editing available, maybe with not as many options. I'll have to check and compare. I've been a photo editing geek for a long time, and love the way I can upload the pics from this TinyPic.com site to here--for FREE?? That blows my mind.

I discovered today that Webshots.com now provides a way to upload photos to other places. They have a 100 pixel size that they show with various lines of code you can choose for your particular site. I tested it on the Test Forum and it puts up the 100 pixel size here, which has a hand to click to take you to the photo with the option of viewing the whole album once you are there.

Unlike TinyPic.com, with Webshots you must do the copy/paste procedure yourself.

This picture shows a row of lavender in the garden of the Villa Borgo Tre Querce outside Orvieto in Italy.

I'd like to lie in the grass next to that lavender.... With a good Italian lunch in a basket.

A problem I have with the small photos that link to an album is that it's an added step that people just may not want to take. Particularly if you use dial-up, as I do. Photos in albums are often large size files and can be slow to load.

Also, you need to tell people to click on the photo, otherwise they think you just posted a little bitty pic.

Of course, it can be great to look at these albums. Some of them are wonderful.
