Big Box Store Success Stories

I know the big box stores take a lot of heat on this forum, but sometimes you can find some great deals. And I must admit, I like buying hugely neglected plants for less than the usual cost and reviving them at home. Here are some pics:

This is a jasmine I purchased 5 years ago at the local Lowes. I do not know the variety (lost the tag) but I recall the tag stating that is was not hardy below 30F, so I think it is one of the more tender varieties. It sits indoors in front of a sunny south facing patio door during winter. I prune and fertilize it liberally in spring when I bring it out into full hot sun. The blooms are extremely fragrant.

And here is a common tropical hibiscus that I found swimming in a bucket of water in a dark corner of the local Home Depot last spring. It was almost leafless and they gave me a great deal on it (almost free). I replanted it, gave it some fertilizer, and 2 months later, I think it looks pretty good!
