This weekend Garden Tours 6/27 & 6/28

I was looking for some garden tours to do this weekend and thought I'd share what I found (2 in MA and one in RI). Hope the weather is nice!

1) Plymouth MA Garden Tour - this is a home and garden tour

The 2009 Home & Garden, Talks, Tips & Tours of "Porches on Reed Street" will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 10am to 2pm. Take a stroll down historic Reed Street as several homeowners share their garden, porch or home with you. Linda Goodine, from Herbs NÂ Such will return with her enthusiastic talk on growing gardens of culinary herbs. She will share her secrets of making Tapas, Spanish appetizers! And of course she will bring samples and their recipes for us all to enjoy! Tickets available at the Plymouth Museum, Growing Like A Weed, Custom Craft Trophy, Fibber McGees, and Curves. $8 advance tickets or $10 at the door. 2) Jamestown RI Garden Tour (next to Newport RI)

Island Treasures Garden Tour

Saturday, June 27 10:00a to 4:00p

at Quononoquott Garden Club, Jamestown, RI

In celebration of it's 60th year, Quononoquott Garden Club will have a tour of 11 unique and private gardens in the island community of Jamestown. The gardens are true treasures of this diverse island. They include a cottage fairy garden, a raised vegetable garden, seaside gardens, and Victorian gardens. read more

3) Weymouth in Bloom - June 28th (Sunday)

The Weymouth Garden Club presents Weymouth in Bloom, a tour of seven of Weymouth, MA's loveliest private gardens,

on Sunday, June 28, Noon to 4 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased on the day of the tour at

Trinity Episcopal Church, 241 Broad Street, Weymouth, MA starting at noon.

Also I wanted to alert garden tour fans of a fantastic tour being offered this year in Hull on Sunday July 12. Several years ago I went to this tour and the gardens were most interesting and being in Hull was a beautiful day as well. It is to benefit the Paragon Park Carousel restoration as well.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28th:
Five (5) gardens in Hartford County, CT, and one (1) more in Litchfield County, CT

Three (3) gardens in Berkshire County, MA

Hello everyone and welcome newbies! Had to take DH for his kidney stones procedure yesterday. He's OK, but needs someone in the house with him. I've got him set up in the guest room on our second level, so I can keep an eye on him while I am in our office working. He had two on the left and they found another two on the right side, so I need to make another appointment to get them all blasted. Lots of drama going on with my brother lately. My sister and I made some decisions that was difficult for me, but it's time I let him fly on his own. I feel better about it, because he has not really had any brother-sister relationship with me and does not want it now. He simply does not have any emotional support to give, so he will fly or fall. Will let you all know more about it when some things are settled. My counselor wanted me to get mad and stay mad at him, and I am finally getting some peace with that! Can you believe it? She told me that if anyone treated me as badly as I treat myself, there would be a restraining order against them! I don't always see it that way, but she's the expert! Gotta run; I'm working from home, and my e:mail keeps ringing. Make this day count! Hug your family! Take care, eat healthy, and NEVER NEVER GIVE UP! Sounds like summer is really here in the South. Calliope, I agree this is a real excuse to keep your poor toes inside where it's nice and clean and dry (under the sewing machine.) Oweee! Went to the blueberry festival here yesterday, first year they've done it. I hope it proved successful, I was very pleased at the crowd. But there is one thing that I am so aggravated about: the u-pick farms have jacked up the price per pound this year (coincidence?) so high that it's the first year I haven't went out and picked for freezing and jam-making. I'm hoping that after this weekend they will bring the prices back down. We have 4 bushes but that's not enough to do much with. My butterfly garden is growing leaps and bounds, the perrenials are way up and blooming, but the seeds haven't caught up yet. I hand-water them but nothing is like a good soaking rain, which we need here so badly. Doesn't seem to hurt the weeds, though. We've been seeing the snakes a lot in the last couple of weeks, hope they don't eat all the little Carolina Wren chicks that are nesting in the watering can we have hanging on a trellis right in front of the porch. That happened last year just before fledging, wiped out every one of them. Needless to say, haven't done any sewing for awhile, still need to track down some more flannel for the backing which I misjudged on my stash. I was hoping for an all-stash quilt and still could if I use odd colors on the back, hey, maybe I'll just go ahead and do it, I think the quilt police are on vacation this week.

16C here...60F...and sunny. Got back late last night from our weekend away. Sharon, I did 5 crumb blocks...didn't have a big lot of scraps as I gave most away during the fabric purge. Today I have ...as my Mom would say...a 'doryload' of clothes to wash...thank heavens it is sunny so they will go out on the clothesline. I just came back from my walk. My sis dropped by for a cuppa and then my other sis and her DH dropped by and had bagels and tea. I haven't seen them for a while so it was nice to get caught up on all the gossip. I am going to piddle around outdoors...do some weeding around the flowers and put some fish emulsion on them. DH is painting the deck. Later I may bake a cake or go to the bank...depends on my mood. I'd like to take the dog for a walk but he doesn't always want to go...he'll be 12 this year and likes to laze around and sleep most of the time. We have some fresh trout for our evening meal...supper. I'll fry them with some margarine and have a salad or some boiled potatoes and carrots. DH likes coffee with fish so I'll perk a bit in the little container that you put on the stove top. Maybe do a little sewing after supper when DH heads to the pond to see if any more trout can be caught. Hope you all have a happy day. ~Geraldine
