Is this hosta getting too much sun or is it getting a virus.

PUD goes from light green to parchment in the sun. NORMAL. Relax. Similar to a pineapple that turns from green to yellow. Great name don't you think?

no.. i hate the name ... it worse than all the lakesides ...

YOU CANT FIT IT ON A LABEL WITH A LABLEMAKER.. OTHER THAN MAKING THE PRINT SO SMALL ... you cant read it anyway ...

yes.. its in TOO MUCH SUN .. it MIGHT ... continue to melting out.. because of such.. and if it does.. dont come running back and asking what that disease is ... as babs said.. its all normal ..

move it to a spot .. where it is out of sun from noon to 6 ... out of the sun.. during the heat of the day ...

and use that logic for anything with a large white center ...

the white tissue is a net drain ont eh plant.. producing no chlorophyll .... and on some level.. the plant cant pump enough water to sustain it.. when siting is not proper ...

so when this happens... move it to a little more shade ...

It will be yellow with a green margin. Pineapple Poll is solid green. Pineapple Punch is the reverse of Pineapple Upsidedown Cake. Pineapple Punch is the all yellow version. There is a new one out now. I think it is named Pineapple Ripple. My PUC is doing ok, my P Punch went a little backwards after last years heatwave. The ice cream topping will keep for weeks in the refrig....if you ewant to make pineapple upside down cake, put rings of canned pineapple in the bottom of a buttered 8 1/2 by 11 pyrex dish, sprinkle on about 2/3 cup brown sugar.....dot with butter... ues about 1/2 a stick. Then make a simple yellow cake, or use a mix...pour the batter over the pineapple and bake according to the directions. When done, turn over onto a serving platter.....carefully! It's easier if you make it in 2 10 inch cake plates. Linda C

For a lot of years, pineapple upsidedown cake was my quick, emergency dessert! I would butter an 8 inch square pan, drain a can of pineapple....either crushed, or tidbits, mix the pineapple with about 1/2 cup brown sugar....mix up one of those Jiffy cake mixes, using pineapple juice for some of the liquid, pour the pineapple and sugar into the cake pan....add marischino cherry halves if I had them...or pecans if I had them...or not. Add the cake batter, bake and when ready...cut into squares and top with ice cream or whipped cream. If I had the ingredients, took me 5 minutes to do! My recipe is from a Better Homes & Gardens cookbook: Pineapple Upside Down Cake 2 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 5 or 6 pineapple slices, drained & halved 4 maraschino cherries, halved 1/3 cup flour 2/3 cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 2/3 cup milk 1/4 cup butter, softened 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla Melt 2 T butter in a 9x1" round baking pan. Stir in brown sugar and 1 Tablespoon water. Arrange pineapple and cherries in pan. Stir together flour, sugar, and baking powder. Add milk, 1/4 cup softened butter, egg, & vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed for 30 seconds. Then beat on medium to high for 1 minute. Pour batter into pan over pineapple slices. Bake in 350 oven for 30 - 35 minutes, or until cake tests done. Cool for 5 minutes. Loosen sides and invert cake onto a plate. For the muffins - I melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar (I don't add any water). I put a small amount in 12 paper lined muffin tins. I add a cherry and a spoonful of pineapple titbits (drained). I use an ice cream scoop to put the cake batter into the muffin tins. Bake 15 minutes and check doneness. Might need more time than that. Invert onto a plate and leave upside down so the buttery sugar soaks back into the cake....mmmmmm.... Here I though I had quite the original idea making them in muffin papers - lol! Guess not, if its on the pineapple can! This recipe makes a much smaller cake than schoolhouses. Boy that cake sure looks good!!!

Yeah,mine is almost white at this time of year,but it grows well,so I'm not worried. Ken,I put my label on two different lines on the name tag,but I really don't need a name tag;it is so easily recognizable. Phil

Mine just goes from green to soft yellow. Morning sun. This year I got a companion for it...Pineapple Punch, with reverse color. Not near a camera right now.

Yeah, I had to move mine three times before I found a spot where it didn't turn white a melt out by August.

Thanks everyone for the info, I will move it to a shadier spot. Ken, the name is way too big for my labels too. I also have Pineapple Punch but that one seems to be fine.
