What did you do with YOUR warm day in Jan?

My thermometer on the north side of the porch reads 67 right now. I took advantage of the day to weed the chickweed and deadnettle out of the perrenial beds by the house, hang my laundry on the line instead of putting in the dryer and take a look at the garden.

I learned that turnips that have been frozen to 0 turn to mush and sour when thawed, and everything except the spinach is in the same shape. Chinese Cabb, regular cabb, collards. Only the spinach came through the deep freeze still alive and it was actually putting back out. Then the deer found it. So next year it will be under protective cover--chick wire and plastic probably.

I saw a dandelion in bloom. But the crocus aren't showing color yet, just spikey little leaves.
