I'll attach a link to an old thread that might be helpful to you. You'll need to let the seeds mature on the plant...the 'ropes' (seed heads) will turn brownish. Here is a link that might be useful: Click here for seed collecting info.

Welcome to Garden Web. I thought you might like to know there is no email link on your member page, thus no way to email you. To set up your email link, just go to the bottom on any page here, and click on Member Pages Then click on Edit your Personal Information, Page, and Preferences You will then probably be asked to login in again. Then check the box Allow other users to send you email via forms at our site. That will place an email link on your member page. I've never grown these before, but bought seeds today from Seed Savers Exchange. Here are their directions: Sow seed in the spring in a sunny, moist, well-drained area. Plant 1/4" deep, thin to 1' apart after germination. Seeds are very hard and may take up to 4 weeks to germinate, so keep moist. Plating seeds in the fall can also work well. Prefers full sun to partial shade and a rich, well-drained soil. Reseeds year after year. If transplanting volunteers, be careful not to disturb roots. Good luck! Hi neil allen, thanks for the input. I have not heard about 'Giant Copperhead', great name. I will look it up. I thought 'Hot Buscuits' was an upright variety, I have not grown it because I read that it gets really big, my friend assures me that this plant she gave me is a weeping (for lack of a better word) amaranth.
