was i too eager in putting seedlings outside?

I

a week ago, i started from seed 3 different types of morning glories and two kinds of tomatoes..

morning glories are a couple inches tall, no true leaves yet

tomatoes one inch tall, also no true leaves.

i was concerned they werent getting enough light (they seemed to really be stretching toward the window) so i put them outside the last 2 days, the first day starting them in the shade and moving them towards a sunny spot throughout the day, today, put them out early am and let the sun rise across them.

temps were high 40's all day

this evening i came home, about 10% of them have flopped over, about 20-30% of them, their leaves look blanched, even feel soggy/dead like, and all of them seem (but it could be my imagination) to be more pale than when i had them inside.. i guess i was too eager, i just wanted to make sure they were getting good light until i could pick up fluorescent lights this weekend... i am sad... is there anything i can do now? was it too cold? too much sun? are they just too young? or will they be fine?
