Can't do much about that. I would recommend a one story ground level house. As you can see I have a two story Cape Cod style home. I'm always worried we will get shook off our foundation. Earthquake insurance it is too expensive with huge deductibles! Everything does grow good here though. Weather is nice most the year. LetÂs see sod laying tips. When I lay sod I straighten the sod edges and corners as I go and make sure no grass gets stuck between the sod edges. This will avoid dead grass and brown and yellow stripes between the sod pieces that can make fungus and just makes for a bad start. I spray the ground with water and put down a little fertilizer as I lay the sod. I always use my square so I get nice square edges when I cut sod. Sometimes I donÂt even till the ground. Sod will live on the patio if you water it. I do it all the time. DonÂt over water your new lawn. Get out there and lift up the sod and see how wet it is. If you over water your new lawn you will get chlorosis and fungus like I have now from too much rain. If I need to replace a small spot I use a plate or bucket for a stencil and cut out the bad piece. Then I use the plate or bucket to cut a new piece of sod from extra sod that I keep on the patio or garden. If you are going to put in French drains or remove and replace tree's itÂs better to do it first. I did it all backwards. I have a spot were an old tree and its roots were removed and it keeps sinking along with the trenches were I put the drains. If you put drains. It is good to attach your rain gutter down spouts to them. Also if you dig your ditch for your sprinklers try to keep the top soil separate from any clay soil that may be down lower and put the soil back in the whole the same way you took it out. The grass grows better on the top soil than the clay. ThatÂs about all I can think of for now other than I like Blue Grass because it self fills. But. In my experience, when trees, shrubs, or other plants are planted properly transplanting shock just doesn't happen. Of course, the yellowing is due to 'stress ', but we have no idea what may have caused the problem. There are lots of mistakes to make along the way. Planting too deeply, adding lots of amendments to the planting hole, the site is not watered properly afterwards (too much or too little), the site does not drain properly, etc.

Could be sunburn. Could be rot. Could be a weakened plant due to a mealie infestation that has succumb to rot. Either way, it does not look good. Both of those pots are way too big, and since I'd bet the soil mix is of poor character, it's only a matter of time before the other "healthy" plant begins to suffer in some capacity. The plant on the right already looks to be etiolated from poor light. You should repot immediately into a mix made up of predominantly inorganic material like pumice, perlite, fired clay granules, etc. There are many "recipes" for success. Do a little research on this forum and you will find lots of good information. And give your plant as much direct sun as possible indoors as long as it does not get too hot. Cacti are not houseplants. They are difficult to grow well indoors despite your best intentions. x

New growth isn't a clear indication that the plant is growing. True growth is measured by a plant's increase in dry weight; so, if a plant is shedding a leaf and growing a leaf, it's roughly in a static state, which is not a good place for a plant to be. I'm not necessarily saying the leaf ISN'T being shed as a result of normal senescence, only that new growth might not indicate an o/a increase in mass. There is no better fertilizer program than one you can control to the degree you know exactly what nutrients your plant is getting, how much of each, and when nutrients will be available for uptake. There is an ideal level of nutrients in the soil and an ideal fractional amount of each in comparison to each and all of the others. Most plants use about 10X as much N as P, and about 3/5 as much K as N. The rest of the nutrients also have an ideal level determined by a function of N levels and the overall level of total dissolved solids (TDS) in the soil solution. Adding tonics, miracle concoctions, or supplements targeting an increase in 1 or 2 nutrients w/o good reason or a strong likelihood what you are doing is going to correct a deficiency, is far more likely to result in limitations than benefits.
