I've just been out removing huge quantities of tree roots from hostas and decided it was time to resort to spinout bags. The only source I've found has 5 gal. 9x9x12 bags (25 for $69.95) and 10 gal. 11x11x16 bags (5 for $25.95). Are the 5 gallon big enough for hostas? Would the giants need a 10 gallon?
At that price I'll have to do a section at a time. I'd need over a hundred of them just for the area under the trees. One spot I found choked with roots is between the house and the driveway, somewhere I never expected problems.
Also, if you have used them, are you happy with the results? How long do they last?
