Viola hastata - Halberd-leaved Violet

As you have heard before, damper is relative...and the more barren areas it grows in nature, have good drainage, usually a slope. And....damp in Arkansas or Oklahoma is a lot different than damp in the NE. I'd suggest well-drained in your area.

My Wagner book lists the hermit sphinx moth as using members of the mint family, however I don't know of any hornworms/sphinx moth cats that make leaf rolls. Wagner also lists the crocus geometer, an inchworm, as being a generalist that uses mint, among many other plants, but, again, I've never heard of a geometer making a leaf roll - maybe some do. I find all types of critters other than caterpillars in leaf rolls, especially small spiders. Some type of critter, I can't remember if it's a spider or what, makes leaf rolls that look like they've been sewn up, the "thread" is very obvious. If I were you, I'd open the leaf roll just enough that I could see what's in there! :) MissSherry
