Help ID Another Tree.

My new yard is quite large and I really want to landscape it (even though I'm new at all this.). I'm confused by a strange plant or tree that is between the hedges and my house. I plan on removing them, but I'd like to know what they are. I might just move them to a new location in the yard. I have images I uploaded to my own website.

Tulip Poplar, often called Tuliptree. Liriodendron tulipifera is the Latin name.

And considering that they can grow to 100 feet tall, do consider moving it much farther from your house :) I mean, think about how wide the trunk is when the tree is 50' tall - and that's possible in 15 years.

Yeah, I'm with ya now! Buds'll do it every time. As for leaf morphology, can we agree there is variability? Shagbark and shellbark hickory up in these parts are quite rounded. Both white and green ash are middling, and black ash is narrow. But the trees don't read the books, and sometimes they exhibit their own idea of how they should present themselves. Truth is, if I couldn't tell one from the other out in the field, it would def. be time to find a new job. But in such cases as that, the whole tree is being viewed, sort of like how some guys can see a car coming down the road from three blocks away and say it's a Ford or whatever. They're not looking at the fine details but rather, the whole picture. This is how I-and I would guess most of you-ID trees 90% of the time. +oM

Hi Certainly some type of Date palm probably canary island? One winter i cleaned out all the ferns and planted impatiens in the nooks. was spectacular for a short time lol looks like it's planted in a good place they get Enormous Looks like two queens on the right. gary

Hahahaha! Funny. I can see where she made the mistake though. The leaves do look slightly simmilar in shape cept the middle on the Kudzu leaf comes to a point and the middle of the Tulip Poplar leaf has an inward arch. Heck, my mom is like 73 years old and blind in one eye. She's entitled to make mistakes at her age. LOL!
