w/o a botanical latin name.. its hard to look it up for you ... perhaps your blue version is sterile .... as the breeders move from the plain old color [red???] .. to the more exotic.. it is very common for the end effect to be that the plant is sterile .... that is presuming that your z9 trumpet vine.. is the same plant i know as trumpet vine.. here in z5 MI ... common names can be very problematic ... if you dont have the name.. a pic might get you an ID ... ken Here is a link that might be useful: how to post pix

When you split the pod open, they really do smell just like cucumbers, but they are not edible...extremely bitter. They can be very invasive, but are easily pulled out by the root..i toss mine in a fire so they don't seed anywhere. Why would you want to keep seeds of this? Donna

I think I know what you have. A white Wisteria.. Without more info, could be american or chinese The pod starts out green and fuzzy, then turns a light brown just before they pop open and the seed is flat on one side slightly raised on the other.Like Old fashioned chocolate drop. becareful. The seeds are toxic to pets and people. I pull the pods right before they open. Hope that helps you.
