Bulb forcing

Apparently I've become known (in my small circle of non-gardening friends) as the lady who will take anything yard/garden related! I am routinely offered used bedding from rabbits and guinea pigs, my neighbor brings over her fruit/veggie waste for my compost pile....and so much more.

Yesterday, someone gave me a bag of daffodil bulbs. She thought I could "use them". Obviously I can't plant them but I was wondering about forcing. I've never tried it before but since the bulbs didn't cost me a cent, I thought it might be a worthwhile experiment.

Or is it?

I keep thinking that I should have started a forcing process sometime late fall - during normal bulb planting time. Am I wrong on this one?
