The Real Problem with Cabin Fever!!

I have come to the conclusion that having a bad case of Cabin Fever and a computer is a recipe for disaster!! HAHA

I won't even talk about the Lily Auction. I finally figured out that every time we have a bad storm, I get a package delivered a few days later!! So I thought I would share some of those garden things that I have acquired due to my cabin fever. This first thing I know I am going to love. It is so simple and so wonderful. It is indestructible and holds 11 gallons. The buckets can be a pain, so I know I am gonna love this.

Oh, remember the bottle tree, I only set it out the one day to see what it will look like, it is back in my kitchen now.

Then I got these really super solar lights!! I really like them because the solar panel is hidden, and even during the day, they will be nice garden accents. They slowly change colors, and it looks like a disco ball!! I have them in my house right now, and they light up the entire room!

Oh, yet another package came and it had the mole chaser windmill. Thought I would give it a try. Bowie isn't keeping up so well!! This sits in a steel tube that goes at least a foot into the ground. Supposedly the vibration keeps the moles away. I do have lots of wind, so it should work, but even if it doesn't, another nice garden accent. At least that is what I have been telling myself.

My bulb forcing this year resulted in 50% blooming, I decided that I am not cooling them long enough, but the ones that did bloom were so nice!!! Here is one at work.

I have also ordered Lily Bulbs, and just got the Schreiners Iris Catalog yesterday, and it its snowing, so I know what I will be doing today. ( at least Schreiners will keep me off the auction for today)

Cindy, I know what you mean, I have all kinds of stuff coming from lily auction.LOL!
I have those solar lights, you're gonna love them. Where did you find the mole chaser? It's very cute and if it works that's a bonus. Spring is around the corner!

Ha, so funny getting all those goodies cause your stuck inside. I am hoping spring will come early this year, I would love some mild weather and some green in the garden. The rain today is washing away the last of the piles of dirty snow from this winter.

mmmmm, seeds, good idea. All that hope and potential- priceless when the summer feels like it was just a fantasy. Mind, I expect your pics of your lovely garden will go some way to keeping your spirits up. This was my first year with a camera and I find myself going back to last May.....July....September....in disbelief. I love your Violette - I did a cutting of this last year and am now really looking forward to its first blooms. Are they toadflax (linaria purpurea) in front - the purple and pink spikes.

Hi Folks, Thanx, txtom for the link. Good info. I think my plan of attack will be to list the Mantis on Craigslist and get some $$ back, then go forward with the Predator. I don't want to end up with 4 running tillers in the barn. Actually, 6 as two are on permanent "loan." :-) Folks keep giving me stuff and I get it running again. I just looked at the local Craislist and was amazed at the number and condition of tillers being offered. None of them were Mantis though. I've learned that the Predator goes on sale about once a month for just under $100, so no hurry to capture the current sale price. Showing my age, but just seems WRONG to buy a "disposable" engine??? who knew... 40 odd years of garden in a snow zone... who ever thought to go to a garden/arb or tree farm in the middle of winter.. NOT ME.. until i took a grafting class at gee tree ... and gary gave a two hour tour of his arb in mid-january ... i think single digits plus wind ... if you live within 3 hours of SE MI ... make a day of going to hidden lakes in tipton MI .. and gee tree in Stockbridge MI ... in winter.. again ... go figure on that ... listen fireboy .. dont bankrupt yourself 'needing to buy' everything you see .... be careful with that ... the mugo ... would be carsten's .... or the other name ... i cant ID your pic.. but a proper spelling helps research if necessary ... short of asking bob ... the picea pungens lutea ... is probably not much different that the P. p. Magpie...I'm laughing at what you said about your DH... mine didn't go along with it that eaisly at first. I had to convince him 'He Could Do It'... I told him how clever he was and knew he could...he did warn me quite a bit, that the glass could shatter. I WAS amazed in the end, that he succeded. I hope you and DH had a great fishing day. Sounds like a nice 'together' time. yachter...Yep...Kathleen will be making her way to her local CTS shop. Nothing gets past her...lol As far as those chocolate cupcake candles...when I go next time, I will look to see if they still have any left and will keep you in mind. They would look cute with your Chefs. OA...I've seen those chocolate bunnies in many stores.. They seem to be pretty popular this year. I first saw them last year in Home Goods, but now many other places. party music...keep the faith.. as I said to Luvs. Also, keep checking out the CTS site..they have a listing of where they are and future sites as well. MM...you should Register on Michael's site and have them email you their weekly sales AND coupons. This way, when you go, you can print out a current coupon. wow,I like the solar lights.One of ,my daughters bought me some last year and now, none of them works.Guesss they need new batteries in them.It stayed cloudy so much here in the fall and winter, till I guess they didnt get a chance to recharge.

What fun goodies you have, love the solar lights. I've been wanting some, I got some when solar lights first became popular. They didn't last very long, so I haven't tried them again. That has been years though, I bet they are much better than they were. A friend has a fancy glass one that has lasted a couple of years now. I may have to look around & try them again.

I really love the pic of the daffodils. We have had solar lights here along our walkways for many years. I also have a hummingbird light in the garden which turns different colors in the evening. I believe I got it at Lowes.

One way I keep from buying is to do our ancestry tree. The TV program "Who Do You Think You Are?" inspired me to get moving and do one.

But just think how lovely your garden will be, and how much fun you will get from the pretties.

That bucket replacement will come in handy too.

And the auction gets me when I'm bored too. I always tell myself that I'm just passing time, but in reality I am generally spending money. If I'm not on the auction, and am likely to be on any of a number of websites where I can find something else I "need" (read that want).

Boy, can I ever identify with this thread!

This thread is so funny because I have been doing the same thing. I ended up with three new three tiered planters, two big new pillars for climbing roses and clematis and a pretty planter that has an iron cover if I want to put something that climbs in it too. You should have fun with all your new goodies. So ready for warm weather to get here and stay. Have a great spring, Judy

Well, one things for certain....since I've been working and traveling with the hubby, I've stayed away from the DL auction and the catalogs. Can't plant if I'm not there so my pocketbook hasn't been complaining! LOL

I am thinking spring and crocus opened the other day, right on schedule. So I am hopeful. Maybe those pesky packages will stop arriving at my door. LOL.
Jan, The solar lights are from QVC. ( I was super, super bored that day, as I never watch that channel!!) So glad I did. It was funny, because a coworker announced to me that she ordered the daylilies from QVC, cause she remembered me always talking about my daylilies!!! I didn't have the heart to tell her the ones they were selling were overpriced, and don't rebloom as they were claiming. When I told her I had ordered the solar lights, she told me she has the exact same ones, and that they are really nice, very bright, and she has had them out all year, even in the snow. HEY, here is something to pass along, when the lights arrived, they had included a schedule, and on Thursday, March 10th, it will be all day garden day on QVC. A few of the 'shows' are also airing from the Philadelphia Flower Show, so I may just have to watch again.!!
NancyVB, The windmill mole chaser is from Gardener's Supply Co. They had sent me a survey and then gave me an offer of free shipping, what was I to do?? I saw the same product on Amazon at a lower price, but it was not offered by Amazon, and there was a shipping charge, so it kinda balanced out.
Boy Judy, sounds like you have some great garden goodies too.
Here is my crocus, the sun wasn't out, so they didn't open yet, but it is so nice to see the color.
