You can price whatever, AND IF you don't have sales, but have people who stop and look. Then you can lower your prices.

I would try at those prices, then if I had customers that act very interested, but they hesitate for very long, Just ask if the price is too high. Alot of people will be honest enough to say so. If they try to undercut you a large amount, I wouldn't go for it. Maybe meet them in the middle of what they offer and what price that you have them for.

I was told when I first started, you can always lower your price, BUT it is very, very hard to raise a price after you have placed it.

I decided to keep what I have to feed the birds thru the winter. It's just too much fun to watch the birds pluck the seeds and eat from a real sunflower than from a feeder, and I have enough to make it all winter.

I would have saved some of the smaller or strange looking ones for myself. I would have sold the other ones to pay back for the seeds. Of course, you would have wanted to do the market thing and hopefully not have traveled very far.

Next year, sell some as flowers and save some for the seed heads. be sure to save at least 1 head for seeds. We've done that with some sunflowers. I planted 1 row, 3 yrs ago and then this year, we wanted to plant potatoes, so we dug the volunteers and sold some plants that way, then the flowers and still had seed heads. 3x of sales out of 1 planting.

We were/are planning on leaving the seed heads for the birds too. However, the marauding squirrels have already eaten half of them along with digging everywhere and killing seedlings.

Here's what I have of a 505 plant-planting. I actually hand picked the seeds from a bird food bag of Cardinal Blend & kept the plumpest seeds so the birds had more meat to eat. I cut most of them but left all the little ones (branching sunflowers) on the plants for the wildlife. Anyway, I think I have 350 dried flower heads. I've been drying them for 3 weeks.

Looks good Dax, I used my sunflowers to divide one large garden into. Looked very pretty when the flowers were all out. I used a sunflower mix, so I had several different kinds and colors.

No wonder you had such a big crop! Hope you have a good place to store these. My squirrels would eat you out of house and home. Last year I had either a squirrel or some rodent eat right through side of a covered plastic pail to get at seed. Guess I'll go back to metal.

I always store any seeds in either glass or metal. I prefer glass. I use alot of pickle gallon jars (hubby likes pickles) for my larger quantity seeds and the old blue canning jars and glass baby food jars for the rest. I can see inside to be sure they haven't got too moist and molded. I inherited alot of blue/green canning jars and don't want to can in them, so this gives them a purpose for the rest of their lives.
