That depends on the iris. Some like Pagan Dance and Champagne Elegance will bloom in August to September in the Pacific Northwest. Most seem to put up bloom stalks in late October that just rot and rob you of next springs bloom. I prefer Dahlia's for fall bloom. The few blooms you get on iris with weathered foliage fail miserably in comparison with the gorgeous spring show iris put on.

I've had Immortality, Belvi Queen and English Cottage rebloom here in Olympia with nice stalks starting early and staying late. I have noticed though that they prefer to be well established and undisturbed for a few years before rebloom begins in earnest. Perhaps other do as well. Also, depending on your soil fertility, they may need a good feeding in mid summer. And like gmason says, they are often not the best for form and display in autumn (though IMM. might be an exception for me). Rebloomers require good conditions and patience, two things I have little of.

My best reblooming iris is Earl of Essex. It always reblooms in the fall, & just as well as the spring bloom. Jean Guymer does well also. I have Frequent Flyer, that rarely reblooms. Immortality is soon going to be dust. I've had it several years, it has bloomed one time in the fall, never in the spring. I may move it & give it one more chance, but 1 bloom in 5 or 6 years is rediculous. I thought Immortality was supposed to be one of the best reblooming iris.

I would move Immortality and give it another chance. I am one zone(7) warmer than you but Immortality blooms at least 3 times per clump for me. Last year I had at least one bloom of Immortality open all year. I have it in several places. Another Zurbrigg iris that is almost identical to Immortality is Brother Carl it blooms even more often than Immortality for me and increases like a weed. One thing I do that really increases the chance for rebloom is to fertilizer the rebloomers over the top with a fertilizer that is 15-30-15. The middle number is what is good for bloom so the larger the middle number the better. I usually start about the first of June and fertilize about every 2-3 weeks. If you would like to try Brother Carl PM me and I will send you some. When you plant Brother Carl you need to get out of the way and don't plant it too close to anything else because it will take over. Just kidding but it is my faster grower. Lee Mincy

They recommend that you basically don't let the rebloomers go "dormant" after the spring bloom. If you plant them with other summer blooming perennials that get regular watering, etc., and give them ongoing and generous water and general
care, they will continue to grow and develop the increase that is needed to rebloom. Do not trim back the foliage on rebloomers like you are told to do with regular iris. This will prevent rebloom. As others have said, rebloomers sometimes like to be well-established before they become
dependable. They do require division every 3-4 years, though, so it is recommended that you only divide 1/2 of the clump at a time, so as not to disturb the rebloom cycle.
Important to remember is that rebloomers grow and reproduce so much faster than normal iris that they are capable of producing the new growth to do this between spring bloom and fall. Anything we can do that will encourage this will
help.

I do not know if I will be able to give you the answer your looking for as I have only had one of my irises bloom in 2 years. I had the wrong conditions, I then moved to an new house and replanted and they seem to be doing well. I live in South Eastern Washington and have one rebloomer that I hope will rebloom for me next season. I am sorry this is probably not the response you were looking for, but I hope that the fact we both live in Washington and both have irises and irises that rebloom will make you happy.

I have CLARENCE and IMMORTALITY. Both rebloom at about this time each fall. Also have JENNIFER REBECCA, but she has yet to rebloom. Had PINK ATTRACTION but got rid of it because the fleshy color was unattractive and it never rebloomed.

I find it so interesting when reading about everyone's experience with reblooming irises. I have been growing Immortality, Baby Blessed, Clarence, Rosalie Figge, Lo Ho Silver, and Plum Wine for about 5 years. Every year with rebloomers seems to be an adventure for me. They don't all bloom every spring, and they don't all rebloom every fall, except for this year. We moved in Aug of '06 and I brought pieces of all my rebloomers with me. I had not thought that they would regrow to the extent they did, but this spring I had flowers on every one. And that includes Rosalie Figge, who has not been a very good performer for me. Then, starting in the last week of August, the real show started and all of these plant began blooming. The first ones were Immortality and Rosalie Figge. Then Baby Baby Blessed, Clarence, Lo Ho Silver, and last but not least, Plum Wine. And as of today, they have continued to send up stalks and are still blooming. Let's just say that I hadn't expected anything like this, and I'm just enjoying the show. It may be years before this happens again. My plants are interplanted with other perennials, so they get water during the summer if we don't get adequate rain. But I've always treated them that way, and never had bloom like this in the fall before.

I'm pretty puzzled because the sun is the same, I think the dirt was a little better at the old house, and as to division, well, it seems to me that the bigger the clump gets (but not TOO big), the better the rebloom. None of these had to be divided when we moved, but since we were moving, they were. I took some, gave some to friends who helped me move my plants. I just think this growing season has been the "perfect storm" and everything they liked came together. If you would have asked me if I would have expected this kind of performance earlier in the summer, I would have said no. We had some very hot, very dry, and humid weather, not to mention a long late freeze that started in late March and went into April. I had thought that the irises would perhaps have suffered some damage from that freeze. I know my hydrangeas sure did! Only two flowers on each of two plants due to severe die back from the late freeze!

Like Linda I have also had several of my Iris Rebloom. I did water mine once a week, because a friend told me that would help in the rebloom process of the Iris. This is what I have blooming now.

These put on a beautiful fall display. I also have the ones that Linda mentioned, thanks for sharing your Iris with me, but I had to move them, they were getting to much shade and I believe that's why I lost the rebloom on my beautiful Iris. I also have an unknown named Iris given in a trade, a peach/pink colored one that is about to bloom. It has been an awesome year for Iris. I hope this trend continues for the next Iris rebloom season.
