How many of you remember what today is ? What were you doing early morning on Dec. 7, 1941? Do you remember what came on the News (radio) later that day ? Remember what FDR said, his voice ? Many folks don't realize it, but Canada was already at War, for almost 2 years, and Canadian soldiers were in Europe fighting and dying... Hitler had attacked Britain, and Canada was part of the British Empire..( our closest neighbor ) and just a short time prior, Hitler had reassured Neville Chamberlain that England was safe, and Chamberlain had gone back to London and told Parliament not to worry... and here was Britain with wooden guns, because after-all, WW 1 had been the 'War to end all wars'... and we here in America were in the same boat, when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor we could have been invaded by Japan and would have been in serious trouble. Roosevelt had been trying to arm us, but opposition to his plans were thwarted by 'the loyal opposition'... doesn't some of this sound eerily familiar ?? Anyway, that's what today is, a grim reminder of history.... sally
