Agave death gives birth to new succulent garden

Well, my big agave that started blooming this summer has keeled over. But left behind several pups. I potted up two small ones for my mother-in-law, who bought the plant originally as a tiny little thing. I left two in place. AND, the exciting part, I've moved two to a spot that I've been planning as a succulent bed for some time. Woohooo, another patch of lawn bites the dust! ;)

I put in some prickly pear pads behind them. In the spring, I'm planning on putting in some of the desert rose from the seeds Tom sent me. And I'm thinking some muhly grass for a contrasting texture might be in order too. All in due time, though.

I would have never thought I would like succulents the way I do now. Their carefree nature has me seeing more and more beauty in them. ;)
