Homemade Greenhouse questions

Hi - I haven't posted in ages, but I have some questions and this seems like the perfect place for answers.

I am starting to think about winter preparation - especially after LAST winter. I have a pergola on the south side of the house and I want to make a temp greenhouse there that I can dismantle when the cold season is over. The plan is to save on plant hugging by moving plants in there for the first freeze and leaving them in until after the last freeze.

1. Any suggestions for a cheap 120v elec heater w/thermostat? All I want to do is keep it above freezing, say 35-38 degrees so I want a thermostat that can go that low. Based on calculations here, http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/heat-calc.shtml

I think I can get by with 5000 btu.

2. Any suggestions for the best plastic sheeting to use and where to get it?

3. Anything else I should know? I am thinking of some sort of flaps for doors and I am thinking 2 doors for cross ventilation. Any ideas on how to do that? Can I just tape a plastic sheet in place for a door flap and hold it closed with velcro strips or isn't that sturdy enough...

Thanks for any advice you may have and any problems you may have encountered.

Judy
