You are gonna love them even more, since these have had your eye for a while. Hostas in 'person' very, very rarely disappoint (in my experiences) Quite the contrary; Most times pics can't do 'em justice.

Of course, we'll be waiting for pics sometime in the next few months. : )

I think 'Dance With Me' would take full advantage of your relatively mild summers, meaning it would keep it's middle color pretty well, as opposed to being bleached white. That's my guess, anyway. Mine did well here with a couple hours of early morning 8am to 10am sun.

'Whirlwind' is a nice one, tends to change colors a bit during a season, depending on where it's grown...Mine last year was still pretty small. I have high hopes for it this year.

Oh, Jadie! Ken, I can answer this one! This is when you start growing in pots! When that's the only way to find more room, that's what you do... OR you get 5 acres, dig up all your hostas (don't forget to tape them up) and move! :-)

funnthsun, that's more or less what I did.
I was living in the east end of London with a 24ft square back yard, overlooked from every side. All my hostas were in pots and come the summer it was impossible to walk amongst them. I had a timed watering system linked to every pot, about 120 mainly small or medium sized plants.
Five years ago my mum's health deteriorated and as she was on her own I sold up moved in with her and took my hostas with me. Now I had a 80ft x 30ft garden to spread out in and the plants slowly increased in number. In 2011 we sold up and moved here in mid Wales to be closer to family in the Lake District. Now I had a 5 acre small holding and all my plants came with us in the back of the removal truck. Three years later I have around 300 hostas ( have never bothered to count them ) still in pots with one small bed out the back of the house with 7 plants in it. I have great plans to plant up a couple of shaded areas and am slowly working towards that end. In the meantime I can't stop buying new ones and potting them up and enjoying them just the same. They are great prices but way too expensive to ship to Sweden.Great if you could post some pics of them.

There are hosta nurseries also in Germany. Here is one with somewhat normal prices (Big Daddy @ E 4) and a good size supply, but you seem to have to know German.

Great choice of hostas I have been looking at dino for a while..if you have the chance I would recommend 'Seducer' what a great hosta the colour holds all season and grows really strongly

UK, I fell for Seducer's charms at the end of 2012 when I got a small order from Van den Top. I'm hoping for a good show this year now it has had a chance to settle and increase in size.

Here is another hosta nursery in Germany, in the same area as Fischer. The owner wrote the story of Hostas in Germany in a (US) AHS Hosta Journal about 8 years ago.

I got a big pot of Empress Wu today at a great little nursery I'd ordered a Cornus kousa "china girl", 3 eyes in a 10" pot with roots comming out the bottom, I am well pleased lol.

Nice choice of the Cornus Denis, I planted a Cornus Florida two years ago. No flowers yet, I was told it needs a warm dry summer to encourage flowering.
2012 was hardly that so I am hoping that after July last year I get it to flower.
Back to Hostas, another nursery I have used and who keeps a few different ones including some streakers is Hostadream in Belgium.

Cornus Kousa dogwoods grow in my zone 5 garden nicely, I have 3 white and one pink. I noticed that though the white one is in full sun, it has by far the most 'flowers'. That one in full sun I had to water a lot the first two years. They are listed as understory trees. They have also no disease, no fungus. Bernd

Bernd, they recomend planting in full sun in these parts, I saw the pink ones but i think I prefer the white. As regarding watering it mostly comes naturally here ! yes understory or woodland edge. the fruit is edible too.

Denis, you are correct. Though I garden in upstate NY in zone 5, I am at Rome, Italy's latitude, so a lot more sun than you will get in summer. Bernd

Starting to see a little bit of bud break on some trees here, its finally spring.

Well, I am just so excited I am beside myself here.

Wikipedia (reference linked below) has a list of cities which share a range of latitudes around this globe of ours.

I was looking for the ones which share a little bit above Lat 30North. On our forum, this includes ILoveToGrow/Paula over in Jacksonville FL, I think Santa in Austin? And Mobile Alabama, myself.

Guess what places are at similar latitudes in other places?
CHINA.....whoopee, for the fragrant hosta growers....and with nothing else like elevation to consider, I name the other places...for us folks in the extreme climate found at Lat 30N.
