When is the best time to buy local produce?

This may sound like a dumb question, but when is the best time to buy certain types of local produce when it's in season? I know if I go to a "farmer's market" now, most of what's available is not local.

I do a lot of canning and preserving and wine making and here's what I DO know for some produce:

- February/March - Plant City Strawberries

- March/April - (not local) Asparagus is in season and cheap in the stores

- May/June - Pickling cukes from Long & Scotts and Zellwood sweet corn

- June - local blueberries

- June/July - (not local) Pacific Northwest and Midwest cherries are in season

- August - (not local) California figs are in season

Anyone want to add to the list?
