Eggs found in flower bed ID ? - pic

Finally got a little time to clean up some of my beds. I found these eggs under a porterweed. Something has dug out a small hole (maybe 3-4" deep) and that's where these eggs are. There were three of them but one was open. We tried to figure out what was inside of it but just don't know. They are quite soft and rubbery feeling. At first I thought it was some sort of fungus but I'm quite sure it's not. They are not attached to the ground in any way and are two seperate "eggs". The eggs are white and about the size of a small chicken egg. We don't have any large birds that frequent the yard except for a red shouldered hawk. Anyone have any ideas? I covered them back up with leaves and left them exactly as I found them. Thanks in advance!
