That is a lovely little thing! It appears to be a double cowslip (Primula veris as Carol says). A British native in its single form. I've never seen a double. Cherish it. By that I don't mean mollycoddle it - it is a native of hay meadows and open downland and is not used to rich living. Don't be tempted to feed it or fiddle with it. It looks happy just where it is.

Hi, I realize now that doing a search on potentilla brings up the shrubs and non-weedy perennials too, sorry. So I did a search of weedy potentilla PA and got Potentilla simplex, so it is possible this one is your weed. Though there are few other weedy ones it could possibly be, they will looks similar. I water mine mabey every other day and thats because it's in the mid 90's and they get full sun and ,,they are in containers that get hot. on the hottest days I may water them daily only on the hottest dryest days if they start to get droopy from the heat.it hasn't rained it over 2 weeks here. tomatoes don't like lots of water..they like consistant moisture in the soil. I probe the soil down an inch or 2 ,,if it's moist I don't water. this has always worked pretty well for me.

When I got the email showing you posted a new comment, the link for the pdf showed up. Yes, we have a version of these plants all over the place in San Antonio and this part of Texas. It's called a barometer plant because it blooms when it hits a certain point. Some people think it's rain that brings on the blooms, but it's the barometric pressure. Your Tx Ranger though really has prettier blooms. Yes, hubby works for a company that takes care of commercial buildings (his job) and equipment like they have at the rail yard. Hey Renee / Pinkpearls : you can have it all, one plant at a time, you just gotta be patient. You need to post pictures of everything you got at the plant swap. Show us where you plant everything!!
