Ialso have to admire the path and gate. They give such a
feeling of days gone by. The siding of the house is so nice.

They look great.

I have moved mine intentionally and un-intentionally and all survived.

My hunch would be to do it most safely, wait till they die back in the late fall and then dig up the bulb and separate the pups from it if you want to and then relocate them.

As with everything, this is always a risk of losing them.

Great photos, Regine! You are growing plants I know absolutely nothing about. Please keep on posting pictures of their "progress." I would enjoy seeing them, and I'm sure others will, too. I've learned so much on this forum about plants I had never tried...sometimes I go right out and buy them!

Ooooooo pretty, Regine.
Interested to see your smaller Amorphophallus konjac (voodoo lily) does like mine and bends over to the light. Yet the tall (cousin?)does not. I keep meaning to replant mine back in even shade.

Thank you all for your compliments and suggestions. The tall amorphophallus will start leaning toward the sun when it opens up so I still have room next to the tree, but next year, who knows.

Have you ever had it flower ?? Does it smell as bad as reputed??lol I understand the tubers can get quite large and require perfect drainage especially while dormant.??
Have been so tempted to plant a A. titanum but after seeing the flower at Fairchild particularly the smell lol
was thinking more on the smaller ones lol
This type has the best foliage at least to me.. gary

It has at times flowered before it sent out the leaves,it didn't this year. The flower looks like a purplish head of loose cabbage on a purple leather plate. It does not smell up the whole neighborhood and you have to be at least 5 feet away before you smell it. It does smell like some small animal died but only for a few hours until it gets pollinated and then the scent is gone. It's a very exotic looking plant.

When my wife and I went to see the titanum at Fairchild
she couldn't get within 15 feet without wretching lol. They said it smelled like rotting flesh but to me it smelled more like something a bit further in the digestive track. lol Incredible site though,makes yoo think the god of vegetation went haywire lol gary

I've heard it described as smelling like a "decaying elephant corpse"!I guess that's why you see pictures of people wearing gas masks when near it.

Very beautiful plant but not sure I could put up with the scent.

So you leave it in the ground year around?? How long is it dormant?? The area doesn't seem particularly dry from the pic. No problems with rot and what is the ultimate size?? Have been told a cool rest is not necessary??

My plant stays in the ground year round and I have not had problem with rot nor do I give it any special care. I started out with one plant about 8 years ago and each year get more offshoots which I have planted in various parts of the yard. The plant itself gets taller every year,six feet is the tallest now. I forgot how tall it gets in the jungle but I read that the tuber can weigh about 20 lbs. and is edible.My plant goes dormant in November and appears again in June. It grows straighter under my Queen Palms where it gets filtered sunlight.That stem is like a huge drinking straw, it's hollow.If you are ever in Gainesville, pay a visit to the Kanapaha Gardens on Archer. They have them growing in the ground in several areas of the garden.

Thanks for the info. Have always wanted to plant some of thee family but have never got around to it. There are sooo many choices lol. A dealer at the Mounts spring sale had some for sale but the lady in charge wasn't even aware or what they were.lol So didn't get a lot of info. They had them in pure sand in very large pots with very high prices lol Thanks again gary

Mine has three shoots from it now, I simply leave it in the ground.

Gary, if you want a mild stinky plant with an interesting bloom I can share a cutting of my stapelia gigantes . Sometimes known as stinky star. The one I have is the right most pic found at the link below.
