First successful Propogation

As some of you might know im new to vegtable gardening in florida theres alot to learn down here lol. Anyway i had a cherry tomatoe plant that got fried caus ei didnt harden it off properly but there were a few stems that looked salvageable so i took some cuttings used some miracle grow garden soil and some rooting hormone for a while i thought they were goners too they were all wilted and saggy but the stems were still green and firm, to my surprise this morning when i woke up all the branchlets and leaves were standing tall and the main stalks seem to be sturdy and thriving i figure ill give it another week and then plant them out and hope for the best.

Good for you! Tomatoes are some hardy creatures. I was replaning a tomato and accidentally cut the stem with a spade. Then I figured, what the heck, and covered it with dirt anyway. It survived, no problem. That's the reason, I hear, to bury them deep, because they grow roots from the stems. I remember someone on here said they were just taking the stems and putting them in wet sand to grow new plants. But, :) , it's more fun to start from seeds...

" I just think it's awesome to be able to cut a 6 or so inch piece off a rose plant and using what it seems like is so easy of a process, make it into a totally new plant! " Yes, it is awesome, even more so when you are getting a clone of a plant that is special to a friend or family member. I hope to do more myself next year.

i got 10 different yellows,i ordered 10, got 12, and golden fountain came in purple, but other than fantasy maker i have 10 yellows nesss fantasy gold,golden plume,moonlit snow, ajohns yellow submarine, i rooted leaves from all of them in water. what have you got to trade??????????

Jacqueline, you reminded me of a poem, Let Me Live in a House By The Side of the Road and be a Friend to Man. That absolutely would be gratifying to talk roses with your neighbors. My garden is so far off the beaten path, no one gets to enjoy it except me. But, once in a while I get to talk roses with repair or delivery men. None of my friends are gardeners and think I'm quite bonkers for having so many roses and spending so much time gardening. Sylvia, I'm still waiting for this years flush! They're all pruned to the ground after this long, cold winter. Yours are gorgeous.

Good job! I agree, well matched! I try hard to match mine up well but sometimes you get a gap as they fuse and I suppose when that happens I can hope it'll fill in, in time. Yours look good. Keep up the good work! I threw out several of my grafts because they were of my virused varieties and I saw no point in keeping them so, alas, tossed them out a while back. I may try a few more before my summer is out, with varieties I know are good.
