I'm in the process of doing this very thing. Doing Bridgewood Skandia (full overlay)cabs in maple with wheat finish...black counter of some nature (granite? Quartz? Still to be determined) and, goddess help me, stainless appliances. The Husband likes the look of ss and he so seldom has an opinion and when he does, I usually let him have his way. How much do you want to spend? or DIY? The carport is the overwhelming feature right now. Do you need it as a carport, or are you open to converting it to another use, like a sunroom or even just a covered porch? I think one thing that might work to reduce the impact of the carport but still keep it, is to remove the large filled in triangle below the carport roof, and replace it with a few horizontal wood beams, either stained or painted. Add some MCM looking wood trim around the doors and windows too, stained or painted to match. Add some stone looking cladding to match the house on the support columns. I think a color like the one on this house would look good -- with all the trim in either weathered wood, black, or cream as pictured

Whatever that is on the wall opposite the windows likely needs to go. You could begin by adding horizontal boards all across the end wall above the shelving at the same height as the horizontal divide between the lower windows and the smaller upper windows to cover and visually remove the arch -- no need to actually physically alter that space. Being able to change the angle of the tv could come in handy if those windows get direct sunlight. If you've not already purchased your furnishings, you might consider a pair of two seat sofas rather than a huge sofa -- that will give you more placement options than larger pieces. DO sit in whatever you buy before you buy it. For the MCM look, choose smaller pieces with crisp uncomplicated lines rather than ornate pieces. I don't like the dark paint. With your light roof and light stone it looks like someone tied a dark green ribbon around the top of your house. A lighter color would be an improvement. I dislike the planters and would remove them if possible. I would remove the rail if it is not needed for safety. It is probably original but it makes the door seem inaccessible You can buy a full view storm door and paint it and the house door the same color. I love your lamp post. Do you have a porch light? I made an amateurish image of a lighter house with no planters. Do you think the stone is original?
