Planting flowers around mailboxes

User

I just wanted to tell you to not plant blooming flowers that attract bees around mailboxes. My mailman in SC was stung, didn't know he was allergic, and almost died before the ambulance could get to him. I was told that a mailbox is actually federal property and that you don't have the right to plant anything around it, or in any way endanger a federal postal employee, but the flower thing isn't really enforced.

There are a lot of nice things you can plant around mailboxes. As one who is allergic to wasps, I'll also ask you to check the bottom of your boxes for wasp nests and the ground around them for hornet nests from time to time.

The mail service is bad enough without killing off our mail delivery people!
