Decide to do a 'walkabout' in the garden after dinner to see who was still holding up.

BECAUSE OF YOU - new planting in June from Maryotts. FFO today. Not too bad but looking for more ruffling. Still has more buds to open so we shall see what the next couple of days bring.

PREDICTION - second bloom and still opening nicely. Something about the deep red around the edge that I like.

SPACECOAST EASY RIDER - still has more blooms to go. Not bad for late day pic.

SWEET OLE MAN - Not a bad bloom opening yet. Perfect each time.

SUMMERTIME IDYLL - still blooming. So glad I picked up some of Rice ML's last year.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD - another late bloomer here. Energizer bunny for sure. And it is pod fertile too.

I also noticed that CAVE CREEK CANYON, MESOZOIC MUNCH and BLACK EYED BULLY have sent up several rebloom scapes. ASHEVILLE BELE CHERE is reblooming now also. Phewww, will it ever stop this year? HOPE NOT!

I just came in from planting LOTW. I can't wait for it to open next year after seeing it in your garden.

You will love LOTW. I just can't believe the amount of blooms it had this year. Last year it was still fairly new and did okay but this year it was outstanding.

Carrie - you gardens are gorgeous. I am just to the east of you but everything here is all browned out from heat and lack of water. We watch those storms develope and hit the Charlotte area but they fizzle out by the time they reach us - the 95 corridor of NC is DRY DRY DRY. ~~sigh~~ this week 95-100 and no rain in sight. I am so discouraged this year but then I see your gardens and I know they can be beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing and giving me hope to press on. Just wonderful to see new ones in bloom, isn't it? I love Sp. Sea Shells every time I see it. The green on the second Paul Owen seedling really looks nice. A guy at work wanted a green daylily and I told him that most are yellow with a greenish cast. Well, this one appears to be as close to green as I've seen. Vickie

Goodness, you sure have a nice variety of blooms! I love your Ribbonnette. I love mine too, but had to move it from the edge of the woods to a sunnier location. It was leaning toward the sun too much, almost falling over. Nefertiti was on my 2008 wish list, but for some reason, I didn't get it. Now, after seeing your photo, it must go on my 2009 list with an * next to it! Thanks for sharing your beauties, Julie

I definitely would wait until its a little bit older, but definitely try it outside, they are definitely one of the hardiest palms but a big problem is too much moisture so I will probably put a plastic bowl over mine during the winter. Thanks Keith! I dont give my oleander any major protection. Last winter I just protected it about 4-5 nights when temperatures were below 20F, but the winter before I kept it protected much of the winter since it was plain cold outside. I protect it like my palms, some lights, a frost cloth, and a garbage bin. It worked well when it was younger, but last year I was only able to give it a frost cloth on cold nights since it was too big for the garbage bin. They are easy to protect since you can tie it up and make it very narrow, I think they are easier to protect than most palms. They look really messed up coming out of their protection, but all the leaves pop back up with a little sun. -Alex

I wish the daylily show would just continue all summer until at least late September. All the flowers look great but my favorite is LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
