Some Tuesday Flowers

The daylily spotlight is deffinately on the late bloomers here. I had posted some of the Olallie blooms on that thread. Meantime, those daylilies in the late bloomers bed in back of the garage have been blooming away and many of the Isabel Hibbard intros are blooming now.

The New York Ironweed has been blooming.

Just some roses blooming away in the front yard. Thats Hummingbird Mint in front of them.

Nancy - Few people would consider Sammie (our black cat) or Columbus (the female striper) tame. Columbus doesn't want to be touched at all. Sammie will tolerate getting petted with one finger. They both love to be talked to, and will follow us around. But they live in fear of being picked up, and are very wary. The other three are 100 percent tame and crave human contact. Celeste - Yes, Cowgirl is our indoor baby. Zuzu is such a love bunny, we would like for him to live inside. Unfortunately he doesn't find those living arrangements to his liking. Rita - I found the irises multiplied too quickly and took up too much of my prime daylily real estate. So I'm able to control myself with them. I used to grow the white Immortality, but lost it when I transplanted. I would like to get that one again because it reliably rebloomed every fall. Booberry - Having garden pets makes the experience a lot more fun. I'd love to see a photo of your shih tzus. Debra

There are so many beautiful daylilies blooming here each day lately that I often don't know which direction to point the camera and were to start. I go out and usually if its just too difficult to get to or insists on pointing the wrong way, I don't take a picture unless its a special case. Like a FFO on a new 2009 intro I just planted this spring. Sometimes I just look around and zero right in on a flower or grouping that looks epecially good that day.

'have a feeling of pressure in my chest' ML, you watch that very carefully - it could be or go into pneumonia. I've had it several times and it ain't pretty! imaginary tea is all i've had for a very long time. I do miss tea and hope to start back up with it when I get into new place (gotta be soon -it's getting too hot here). My sister even bought me a tea pot a few yrs back. I have no idea where I put it and am hoping to find it while going thru things in here. puppy and i have spent the last 3 mid day time periods in the new place with the a/c there. haven't wanted to turn it on in here. She has lots of room to play in there and has worn me to a frazzle! It's constant 'throw the toy for me'. She'll climb up on me on the bed and get right in my face if i don't pay attention. The stinker. I've managed to do a few minor things while there tho - plus watch Rawhide. There are snails moving faster than I am. oh, my car battery died last wk so I was stuck here for almost 2 days. bummer - I just hate that. Even if I wasn't going to go anywhere. It's the 'I can't' that I hate. I've got a long list of things I need to get from Lowe's maybe later this wk. It's supposed to cool down on Thursday so then I'll go do laundry and on Friday make my trip to Lowe's.

Really nice picture of South Seas. So many people praised it years ago that I got one and can't imagine being without it now. It's blooming as I type.....Paige's Pinata always gets me. Every time I see your name I try and remember it's name. One of these days I may find room for it. I do like it quite a bit.......I may have grown your yellow noid years ago. I like Final Destination and Kitty Kitty, your roses are sooooo lovely. Never saw NY Ironweed before, like the color.

Ironweed is a native plant useful for attracting butterfly and bees. I think the NY Ironweed is just a subdivision but I am not sure. Thats what it was labeled when I went to buy it, I do remember thinking the same thing when I bought it. That I knew what Ironweed was but had never heard of NY Ironweed before.

That rose picture above is just some of the roses in the shrub rose section that is above the new planterbox daylily section of the front yard.

Looks like KITTY KITTY is the most popular favorite. I like to sneek in a picture of my roses especially now that there are not that many daylily blooms as there were in July. Of course, there really were very few rose blooms in July as they have the big spring flush in early June and then take till August to get another flush going.

I'm in southern Ontario, but New York Ironweed is the most common variety grown by gardeners around here. Their true name is vernonia, so NY ironweed is vernonia noveboracensis. I have a few others and love them all. Great for late season bloom.
