Some Tuesday Trimmers and more

JEANNE DEAVER'S DREAM, one of my new Trimmers, had its ffo today. It was one of the few daylilies that opened well after a cool night.

ETHEL BUCCOLA, a Trimmer I got last fall from Maryott, had good color but poor sepals on its second bloom.

Iris YAQUINA BLUE, my only German iris, put on a nice show from late April through this past weekend.

Seeking some info on my reel (Cal Trimmer) mower

Hi all, Found this site via a google search while trying to find some info on my Trimmer. When I was young my father had a John Deere reel mower that was one of my favorite mowers to use. Unfortunately he doesn't still have it otherwise, he would have given it to me. The neighbor across from my parents has always used a 25" Cal Trimmer so I briefly spoke with him and he suggest having a look in craigslist to see what I could find. I picked up a 20" Cal Trimmer, believe its a homeowner model (sticker says so). If anyone can provide me some more info on it, estimated age etc that would be wonderful.

Laura , thanks for posting Olly Olly Oxen Free. I added it to my gardens 3 years ago . Never saw it bloom it died over winter. I have been hunting for it here in Canada but no luck . Only place I have seen it is Cottage Gardens (Brent Ross in NY) . Gonna have to bite the bullet on the exchange and place an order at some point to get it back here. I am waiting anxiously to see Cobraskin Necktie bloom here this year. It was added last year ( didnt see any bloom) but boy this year the scape it has put up is a honking thick scape with oodles of buds. I'm excited to see how it compares to your image. It's like birthing a baby LOL ! Yellow Monkey is a heck of a clump ........just lovely to look at ! Thanks for sharing .

Sour Puss this year has eaten up most of my "film" it's been so pretty, but next to that is Pink Aloha. I adore this flower when she gets it right - and mostly she does. I call her a she because she does go her own way as you described.....Kindred Jewel is my WOW one of this group. I hope this makes it long term for you...........I saw Elizabeth Hewitt in the Blueridge line up and thought how pretty it was. See how colorfast it is if you get a chance.............Isn't it nice when people tell you how much they enjoy your garden. I just have a small display anymore, but people still will stop my DH if he's out in the yard and compliment him on it. He smiles and nods with smug satisfaction. Outside of tote that barge and lift that bale (much appreciated of course), he has zero to do with it. As we say down south "Bless his little heart" lol...............Maryl

JEANNE DEAVER'S DREAM is beautiful, just wonderful color. Starting out good too for first flower on a chilly morning. Love the cats! Have they all come around & tame now? Seems like one, maybe the black one, was still a big skittish last year.

Love the intense colors of the daylilies & the iris! I love the kitty cats curious about what's to come too. I have two garden "helpers" myself. They're shih tzus or as I sometimes refer to them, "cats without the dignity." LOL!

JEANNE DEAVER'S DREAM daylily is my favorite. I still really like Patricia Snider Memorial. Even if it does have a low bud count, being so pretty I would keep it in my garden. Iris YAQUINA BLUE is such an intense shade of blue. The cats are so pretty. Marg

What lovely color on all those flowers, each & every one.
Cowgirl has the sweetest face! Is she the one that is the indoor cat? And you gotta love that last picture of those two darlings. That is so precious.

Wow, the cats look great. Cowgirl sure did turn out to be a beauty. Love your iris, so pretty. I could never have just one!

Nancy - Few people would consider Sammie (our black cat) or Columbus (the female striper) tame. Columbus doesn't want to be touched at all. Sammie will tolerate getting petted with one finger. They both love to be talked to, and will follow us around. But they live in fear of being picked up, and are very wary. The other three are 100 percent tame and crave human contact.

Celeste - Yes, Cowgirl is our indoor baby. Zuzu is such a love bunny, we would like for him to live inside. Unfortunately he doesn't find those living arrangements to his liking.

Rita - I found the irises multiplied too quickly and took up too much of my prime daylily real estate. So I'm able to control myself with them. I used to grow the white Immortality, but lost it when I transplanted. I would like to get that one again because it reliably rebloomed every fall.

Booberry - Having garden pets makes the experience a lot more fun. I'd love to see a photo of your shih tzus.

I love the color of your iris and the DL's are looking pretty spiffy to, I especially like the first one. Cowgirl, Zuzu and Tuxie are the real stars of the show though and are my number one pick. Tuxie looks a lot like my cat Jennifer.
