It is all Ricky's fault!

That I've become addicted to Calatheas.. I saw his at a swap a few years ago, and marveled over the leaves that looked hand-painted by a talented artist. I looked everwhere for that plant, and once I found it, I got it and then 10 more of the same to share. I'm so attracted to plants that have leaves that are purple/scarlet underneath, and green/patterned on top.

Then the "Calathea thing" made me get Red-Leafed Bananas, Clerodendroms, and Tri-Colored Stromanthe. To add color and interest to the garden, so I claimed. My best friend Dawn shook her head in dismay when she saw the collection grow- then asked for one for herself.(G)

Then, I saw heaven as I wandered the isles of Excelsa Gardens/Nursery. Somehow, another 6 varieties of exquisite foliar fantasy ended up in the van. I proudly display them in my front entrance way. I never tire of the intricate patterns on the leaves.

Anyone else share my appreciation for these non-fruiting, but still-worthy beauties??

Ever stopped to think about your influence on others? Your plants/generosity are changing S. Florida, in a very good way!

Sorry about that, bamboo. Feeding the craze :-) And, this lady can't have a Dekopon. Dekopon is not available to the public. It is very, very tightly controlled right now, and only a small number of commercial growers in California are allowed to grow the Dekopon. If she has one, it's not a Dekopon. If she grafted it, she did so illegally. So, beware of that. The only possible way she could have a true Dekopon, would to have had this tree or budwood transported over from Japan before all the citrus restrictions were placed on imported citrus. Not even sure this variety has been around that long, even in Japan. And, we all know what happened here in Calif. with illegally procured budwood. UC Riverside is trying to procure Dekopon budwood themselves, from other sources, but have not been able to do so, yet. So, this also casts significant doubt about what variety this tree really is in my mind. Patty S.

Candy, your bakers rack looks allot like mine, but your's is decorated much cuter! That was great that one turned up for you at the TS. Even though I have some garden items on mine, it also has to hold the bubble machine that was originally for our little GD, but we found out our two goldens loved to chase the bubbles too! They even go there and jump up when they want us to turn it on! LOL Karen, who knew packages could look so cute? Love the addition of the greenery on it. Luvs

Are you trying to embarrass me? Of course there isn't. I finished them this morning the whole time asking myself why are you eating these you're not even hungry. Thanks for the replies. It appears that we had a conversation where he was asking about the tile pattern and I thought he was asking about something else. He was able to redo the tile work, and things are looking much better!
