I've been wanting one for a while, let me know how it works.

Me too, but always been afraid I would ignite all the mulch and then POOOFFFFfffff.

Seems to be a nice charcoal lighter too.

Propane has gone up just like gasoline, so while the cost of the torch isnt that much, it may use a lot of fuel though.

indeed -- i have hundreds of sq ft in pavers, and the weeds that grow up between them are particularly pernicious... that seems like a great price. let us know!

i deal with these weeds now with a two-prong attack: i douse them with round-up, and once they're dead, i use my trimmer to (carefully) cut them down. what a pain!

Ill, I've been hand pulling them to get rid of as much of the visible part (and sometimes I get the roots, too) as possible, THEN hitting whatever's left with Round Up so they don't come back. Mark likes to Round Up first, then leave the dang dead and ugly brown plants all over the place until they finally break off and blow away! I'd rather see them alive, frankly...at least they're GREEN then. But I'm hoping the weed burner will be a good solution. Thanks for the link, Tony...checking it out now! Will let you guys know if I get one.

Okay, I've checked out your link, Tony, and the price looks great. Check the link out below to see the one I've been looking at. It's $10 more, but seems like it might be more portable to me. It looks like once Mark attaches the cylinder, I'd be able to use it by myself, pretty much, without lugging a bigger tank around. What do you think?

I own a weed Dragon. I had hopes it would be my new best friend but alas there are a few drawbacks.
It is not instant on off you must turn safety knobs and light the flame and be sure to shut off the propane knob when through. I could not use it during the burn ban.
You must wear protection especially EYE and ESPECIALLY if you have small stones. The brick chips got hot and twice I had sizzling pieces land TOO close to an eye.My neck got it real bad.
It works best on small thin weeds .Once the weed is enormous it my kill the top but not the center.
I have the BIG model and it can be difficult to cart
around.
Seeds that need fire to germinate will pop up.
Your garden will smell like a housefire a day or two after you use it.
Your neighbors GLARE at you(whats new HEHE!)
But if you own a large piece of property it is helpful. I only use it when my hubby is around and I keep a hose handy but honestly the stuff doesnt really ignite. But my biggest concern for which I am EVER so careful is that I am allergic to Poison IVY and as you know if you burn it you can cause your throat to shut off.
So I know I probably sound negative but I am not it is just a tool that could become a lethal weapon so be very very careful.

While the larger tank is definitely more heavy, you wont be holding the tank while you burn the weeds. Just when moving it from place to place, it has a hose.

Using gas from a larger tank is going to be much more cost effective too.

SHEESH! I was hoping to find an answer to getting rid of UNWANTED paver weeds/grasses. Marcia, I am picturing you in that burner get-up. You would be fried from internal get-up gear before you got to the weeds. YIKES, "Marcia aflame!!" Or should I say Marcia Flambe~

Not to worry, Cindee...the guy wearing all that gear is melting ice off his path. I won't need quite THAT much protection, I don't think, though I would certainly be very careful with it. I think for $35, it's worth a try. (Heck, you can spend that much on Round Up before you know it.) This model has a much smaller flame area than the larger one, I THINK, and that might make controlling it a lot easier, too.

Tony, you and Mark would probably be happier moving the larger tank along with you, but for me, the smaller the better. Hey, maybe I'll go try to fry a few using the long handled lighter I normally light my grill with. Maybe that will give me an idea of how they burn. Sorta. Kinda.

I have the smaller version. It looks like a staff and a small propane bottle screws into the hooked part of the shaft. Very easy to operate and light weight. It works very well for me and will even kill weeds in mulched beds immediately after a rain. Never had the problem of flying debris. Goldenpond is right; you need to attack the weeds when they are small.

Steve, I'm thinking yours sounds like the one I'm looking at (see link above) and is all I need for my small area. (Small compared to commercial areas, but plenty dang large when I'm bent over trying to weed it by hand!) Thanks for the input!
