Thursday Blooms and More Painting before the Rain

I finished the second coat of paint this morning and it has plenty of time to dry before the rain rolls in. There were some pretty blooms today but I noticed that the two blooms on Thieving Magpie yesterday were the last ones. The only things left are growing pods.

Condilla always does look good, doesn't it Rita. It starts out double & is consistent, every bloom is picture perfect. Great little double daylily, & I'm not big on doubles :) Thanks Kay. The first blooms on that seedling were ok, but the last few have been much nicer. I really like the color of it. I need to get out & water too, Celeste. they are saying we have a remote chance of rain tonight though, so I'm going to wait. I really should water though, that would up my chances of rain, I'm sure. I think you are right Debra, it might be a great bridge plant. I can't think what I could have pollinated New Dawn with to have gotten this height, about all I had then I can think of was Firestorm or Autumn Minaret. And neither of those have this kind of bud count. There are 4 scapes, one has 29, 2 have 37, & one has 39. Hush Little Baby is lighter today than it was yesterday, must be the heat. Part of it though is my new camera. It isn't an expensive one but I would think a Nikon would get better pictures than an older Kodak, but it doesn't. I keep meaning to get my old camera out & charge it up. It had been having problems, but nothing I couldn't work with for this. Of course, it could be operatoritis too.

Mantis, I had deer problems when the foliage first appeared. (You reminded me I needed to deter them at that point!). Due to the excessive rains we had in the spring, deer deterrent was useless to put down. I have one section of my yard which is well on the other side of my driveway, where I have lots of noids in a landscaping role, chomped by deer. I did get my deterrents down and have not had them in my major garden. Having just typed that, with the rains we have had this week, I may have not a single bloom in the morning! And I am not sure of Eye Scream Sunday either. I have had it for several years but it has not been in a good place under the encroaching tree. But having said that, just look at that ratty foliage-that is the exception to almost all my lilies. I plan to move it and give it a chance. And Kennesaw-oh, I have just given up on it. It had one glorious season and then has withered to nothing. I moved it to better garden spots but with same results-no multiplying, no blooms. I don't even look at it any more!! Thanks Sherry-you are so right. This is one I will always have-as a matter of fact, I have three large clumps of it and they are all blooming now. Due to mud and rain, I could not get to the other clumps and this one is blooming in a tree!

Glad that you were able to finish your painting before the rain. Todays blooms are lovely. Elegance of Summer is my favorite.

Wow. You still have several really pretty ones still blooming. I think NORTH WIND DANCER is my favorite of these, but it was hard to choose.

I am not posting any pictures today because I don't feel like getting wet. The rain is here.

Radiation Biohazard is an average looking bloom with above average performance. It was my longest bloomer last year at 6 weeks and it has been going for 4 weeks so far this year. I appreciate it most at the end of the season when everything slows down.

How Lovely You Are is similar to Elusive Happiness. It is supposed to have better branching and bud count. Once both are large clumps I may decide to only keep the best one in my garden.

Rita, if you need another yellow Elegance of Summer is a beast of a plant and I strongly recommend it.
North Wind Dancer looks great every bloom and it is easy to take excellent pictures of it. The branching and bud count are superior. In my garden it requires a peony ring to keep from flopping but I think it is well worth the effort.
