Making Apricot Jam from Dried

I am not in the part of the country that apricots grow. All the recipes I find for apricot jam are made from fresh apricots. Is there a recipe for it from dried California or Turkish apricots? Does the sulfur used to keep the color affect the taste/safety? Are there other fruits that can be added to it to make it unique (pineapple, orange, papaya, Asian pear, plum)?
