Have any favorite quotes to share?

I am finding I love to find the thoughts of others that have been preserved as 'quotes'!

I would love to hear what many of you have considered 'noteworthy'!

I just found this one, and also find that I totally agree with it (lots of 'finding' going on in this posting):

Hi hey_j and everyone here in the forum, My name is Linda and I just joined yesterday.I have previously just browsed around the site as I became familiar with it just recently.I am broadening my gardening to include Hostas and that is how I found this site. I have to tell u that I have enjoyed your pictures immensely and have been inspired by them to include even more hosta in my gardens. WOW! Janice, your pictures are absolutely beautiful and I hope someday I will too have such beauties. Barney is the cutest too! Well here is a quote I would like to share... The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.

have taken the time to join in and post on this forum and to share the quote by Anne Frank!

I love that one, too! And to think, how such a darling and wise girl could have that outlook
at such a tender age!!! I have to feel she was gifted with the ability to see some of the most important
things in life to enjoy! And, I agree with her that nature is one of God's great joys and solace!

Please post again, even on the discussion side! You have to know, we welcome you, wholeheartedly!
I've made some of my favorite friendships through this Hosta forum! :o)

I don't know if I would call them happy accidents, but a few times, the item I've ordered doesn't show up looking exactly like my order. Maitland-Smith was especially bad. However, after I've waited months for an item to arrive, I'll usually make it work rather than start over. Luckily, most of the differences have still fit into my color scheme.

We ordered windows in haste, to correct an earlier error that we caught after the windows had been ordered but this didn't allow enough thinking time. Pella accepted the change and obliged with a delivery just in time. This gave us one double casement counter-height that will have countertop as windowsill and three nearly square large casements that were supposed to echo existing windows in the rest of the house, about 6 inches shorter than countertop. (We SHOULD have ordered 4-5 matching casements all ganged together for the front window and just one to match the old shorter window on the north-facing kitchen wall.) The problem got worse because we never drew out things in an elevation drawing--the new windows were delivered as the walls were going up and we just paced out the layout right then and there on the roughed construction floor and marked things with a magic marker. No one would ever plan these windows like they ended up. The street side of the room will have no upper cupboards but the north and south ends will have cupboards and these will just about abut the two shorter windows, leaving a little strip of wall before the window casings begin. We should have made all the windows be a part of a single window unit and allowed no wallspace between the windows. Since photo was taken, DH has finished siding the addition but the window pattern made hardships for installation by a homeowner-amateur installer. On the interior, we will have full trim on each window, leaving just a little strip of paint or whatever between each of the front windows. If we tile around them, it will also be a pain. So window pattern is absolutely screwy, but it's beginning to grow on me when I look from the street. It doesn't look like ANYONE else's but it doesn't look bad. If we can handle the interior properly, the same will happen there as well. Once the other two old windows on the facade are replaced with casements also, everything might look just fine. Go Buy It! 3)"Barry Dixon Interiors" Brian D. Coleman. Wonderful coloring and placement ideas. My favorite fireplace EVER is on page 123. Favorite kitchen EVER -- page 38-39. 4)"Alexa Hampton: The Language of Interior Design" Alexa Hampton. Love the dining room on page 203. 5)"Bunny William's Scrapbook for Living" and "An Affair with A House" both books by Bunny Williams. Love them to bits! 6)"At Home: A Style for Today with Things from the Past" Suzanne Rheinstein. Gorgeous photos of her own homes and her portfolio. Wow! 7)"Chris Madden: The Soul of a House" Describes her two homes -- and features a lot of her own furniture designs. Lots of good ideas. Wish she had featured more of her portfolio. 8)"Suzanne Kasler: Inspired Interiors" Suzanne Kasler. Gorgeous. and wonderful ideas for wall decor placement. And there are more in the bookshelves ..... I got into daylilies many years ago when the Wayside Gardens catalog arrived and had a very "sale friendly" picture of Clothed in Glory in it. Deep lavender base surrounded by a white bubbly edge. It was like I had been taken to another planet full of alien daylilies. I had Happy Days, Pardon Me, Pandora's Box, all good growers, but none with the beauty of that face. Hasn't changed much for me. I grow one UF, a few doubles, and some minis, but give me those contrasting ruffles/bubbles on a full face, make it colorfast/sunfast, and I'm back on my alien daylily planet once again................Maryl

My own personal motto: It's about cleaning house. Don't do today what you can put off till tomorrow!!!! LOL At least it's that way during the summer months while I can be outside.
